Tutkimus on kvalitatiivinen tutkimus, joka oli l\u00e4hestymistavaltaan ja tutkimusotteeltaan fenomenografinen. Tutkimukseen osallistui 13 Valmetin hankinnassa toimivaa eri-ik\u00e4ist\u00e4 ja eri ty\u00f6kokemusvuosilla varustettua henkil\u00f6\u00e4; yhdeks\u00e4n ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4\u00e4 ja nelj\u00e4 esimiest\u00e4. Aineistonkeruumenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin teemahaastattelua Tutkimus osoitti, esimiehet kokivat roolinsa henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4misess\u00e4 merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4ksi, mutta samalla he kokivat suurimmaksi haasteeksi ajank\u00e4yt\u00f6n esimiesty\u00f6ss\u00e4\u00e4n, joka vaikutti my\u00f6s henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4misty\u00f6h\u00f6n. Ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t vastaavasti n\u00e4kiv\u00e4t esimiehen merkityksen oman ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4misen kannalta t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4; kannustavana ja heid\u00e4n ammatillista osaamistaan tukevana. Sek\u00e4 esimiehet ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t kokivat, ett\u00e4 hankinnan yksik\u00f6ss\u00e4 voidaan parhaiten kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n ammatillista osaamista monipuolisilla keinoilla ja menetelmill\u00e4 kuten yrityksen sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 ja ulkopuolella tapahtuvalla kouluttautumisella, ulkopuolisilla asiantuntijoilla, vertailuanalyysilla, sis\u00e4isill\u00e4 palavereilla, ty\u00f6kierrolla ja mentoroinnilla. Vastaavasti kehityskeskustelujen hy\u00f6dyllisyys ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4misen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta n\u00e4htiin enemm\u00e4n negatiivisena. Tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4 esimiehill\u00e4 on halua ja kiinnostusta henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4miseen ja isomman roolin ottamiseen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6hallinnolle kuuluvissa teht\u00e4viss\u00e4. Suurimmaksi haasteeksi he kuitenkin kokevat ajan riitt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myyden sek\u00e4 roolinsa ep\u00e4selvyyden. Toiseksi vastuu ammatillisen osaamisen kehitt\u00e4misest\u00e4 ei ole yksipuolista, vaan se vaatii aktiivisuutta niin esimiehelt\u00e4 kuin ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4lt\u00e4 itselt\u00e4\u00e4n; ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n teht\u00e4v\u00e4 on kertoa omista ammatillisista tarpeistaan ja esimiehen teht\u00e4v\u00e4 on mahdollistaa ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n kehittyminen ammatillisesti. T\u00e4m\u00e4 vaatii esimiehen ja ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n v\u00e4lisen vuorovaikutuksen avoimuutta ja luottamuksellisuutta.
