Robottivarainhoitajan ja perinteisen varainhoitajan välillä löydettiin eroavaisuuksia, kuten sijoitusprosessin vaiheiden väheneminen, virheettömyys, datankäsittelykyky, rationaalisuus ja kustannustehokkuus. Toisen tutkimuskysymyksen osalta etuja ja haittoja havaittiin lukuisia. Haittoja ovat esimerkiksi ristiriitaiset motiivit, yksinkertaiset ratkaisut, kaksinkertaiset kulut ja vastuukysymykset. Etuja puolestaan tarjoavat matalampi kynnys aloittaa, kustannustehokkuus, parempi asiakastyytyväisyys sekä asiakkaalle jäävä parempi ymmärrys portfolion riskeistä. Robottivarainhoidon lyhyestä olemassaolosta johtuen, ongelmista ei juurikaan ole ennakkotapauksia. Robottivarainhoitajien sääntely hakee myös vielä muotoaan. Robottivarainhoitajien kasvu on ollut voimakasta alusta asti, ja tulee myös jatkumaan sellaisena lähitulevaisuudessakin. Robotiikan mahdollisuudet näyttävät olevan koneoppimisen parissa, missä hyötyä pystytään saavuttamaan massadatan avulla. Robottivarainhoitajat tulevat vaikuttamaan työpaikkojen vähenemiseen finanssialla, mutta niiden nähdään myös auttavan nykyisten varainhoitajien työtä hybridiratkaisuna. This is a Bachelor’s thesis which research is conducted as a literature review. The research subject of this thesis is automated investing solutions so-called robo-advisors. Research’s purpose is the answer to the research questions: How does the robo-advisors differ from traditional wealth managers? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of the robo-advisors? There are differences between robo-advisors and traditional wealth managers as shorter investing process, accurate, ability to manage data, rationality, and cost-efficiency. There were many aspects to the second research question. Disadvantages are for example conflicting motives, simple solutions, double expenses and responsibility questions. Benefits can be seen as a lower step to start investing, cost-efficiency, better customer experience, and customer understanding of risks distinctly. Robo-advisors have existed for a while thus there is no precedents and regulation still needs to develop. The rise of robo-advisors has been rapidly and it will continue in the future as well. The potential of robotics seems to be with machine learning, where the benefits of big data can be achieved. Robo-advisors may reduce employment in the finance sector but them will help traditional wealth managers work as a hybrid solution.
