Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin sit\u00e4, millainen rooli rehtorilla on syrj\u00e4ytymisen ennaltaeh-k\u00e4isyn prosessissa. Tutkimusongelmaa l\u00e4hestyttiin rehtoreiden subjektiivisis-ta kokemuksista k\u00e4sin.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisia tutkimusmenetelmi\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Tutkimuksen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastatteluilla kolmelta yl\u00e4koulun ja kolmelta yhten\u00e4iskoulun rehtorilta. Haastattelut toteutettiin yksil\u00f6haastatte-luina. Aineisto analysoitiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysimenetel-m\u00e4\u00e4. \nRehtoreiden mukaan kouluissa syrj\u00e4ytymisen riski n\u00e4kyi selkeimmin v\u00e4linpit\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n asenteen sek\u00e4 poissaolojen kautta ja syrj\u00e4ytymisen taustal-la kuvattiin olevan p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa perheest\u00e4 johtuvia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Kouluissa syrj\u00e4y-tymist\u00e4 ennaltaehk\u00e4istiin edist\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 oppilaiden viihtymist\u00e4 ja puuttumalla heid\u00e4n ongelmiinsa. Rehtoreiden roolissa syrj\u00e4ytymisen ennaltaehk\u00e4isyn prosessissa painottui koulun toimintatapoihin vaikuttaminen ja yhteisty\u00f6n tekeminen. T\u00e4rkeimpi\u00e4 yhteisty\u00f6tahoja olivat opettajat, oppilaat ja heid\u00e4n perheens\u00e4 sek\u00e4 sosiaalitoimi. \nTutkimuksen perusteella voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 rehtorit voisivat laajentaa syrj\u00e4ytymisen tarkastelua yksil\u00f6n n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta my\u00f6s yhteiskunnan tasolle. Koulujen osuuden tiedostaminen syrj\u00e4ytymisen riski\u00e4 edist\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 tekij\u00e4n\u00e4 voisi puolestaan edist\u00e4\u00e4 syrj\u00e4ytymisen ennaltaehk\u00e4isemist\u00e4 entisest\u00e4\u00e4n.
