Huippu-urheilua ei olisi nykyisess\u00e4 muodossaan ilman yleis\u00f6\u00e4, mik\u00e4 tekee urheilun katsojista t\u00e4rke\u00e4n tutkimuskohteen. Urheiluyleis\u00f6n tutkiminen tuottaa useille toimijoille arvokasta tietoa yleis\u00f6n rakenteesta, motiiveista ja toiveista. Ei ole kuitenkaan olemassa yhten\u00e4ist\u00e4 urheiluyleis\u00f6\u00e4, vaan eri urheilulajeilla on erilaiset yleis\u00f6ns\u00e4. Pes\u00e4palloa on tutkittu varsin v\u00e4h\u00e4n huolimatta lajin perinteist\u00e4 ja suosiosta palloilulajien joukossa. Naisten Superpesis on yleis\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4rin mitattuna Suomen seuratuin naisten palloilusarja, jonka yksi menestyneimmist\u00e4 joukkueista on jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4l\u00e4inen Kiritt\u00e4ret.\n\nTutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millainen on Superpesisjoukkue Kiritt\u00e4rien yleis\u00f6profiili. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkitaan, miksi Kiritt\u00e4rien ottelutapahtumiin osallistutaan. Kiinnostus kohdistuu motiivien ohella osallistumisen m\u00e4\u00e4riin ja ottelutapahtuman osa-alueiden merkityksiin. Kyseess\u00e4 on kvantitatiivinen survey-tutkimus. Tutkimusjoukko koostuu Kiritt\u00e4rien kotiottelun katsojista Superpesiskaudella 2017. Tutkimusaineisto (n=265) hankittiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 t\u00e4h\u00e4n tutkimukseen laadittua kyselylomaketta, jonka suunnittelussa hy\u00f6dynnettiin aikaisempia urheilun yleis\u00f6tutkimuksia.\n\nTulokset osoittivat Kiritt\u00e4rien kotiottelun kiinnostavan tasaisesti sek\u00e4 miehi\u00e4 ett\u00e4 naisia, mutta sukupuolet erosivat toisistaan merkitsev\u00e4sti i\u00e4n ja ammattiaseman suhteen. Katsojat painottuivat jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4l\u00e4isiin ja korkeakoulututkinnon suorittaneisiin. Ik\u00e4luokista 60\u201369-vuotiaiden osuus oli suurin. Katsojat harrastivat runsaasti vapaa-ajan kuntoliikuntaa, mutta useammalla kuin joka toisella ei ollut pes\u00e4pallotaustaa. Kiritt\u00e4rien ottelutapahtumaan osallistuttiin, koska se oli mukava ajanviettotapa. Katsojat halusivat seurata huippupes\u00e4palloa ja n\u00e4hd\u00e4 taitavia pelisuorituksia. Ottelutapahtuman osa-alueista keskim\u00e4\u00e4rin t\u00e4rkeimp\u00e4n\u00e4 pidettiin yleis\u00f6n kannustusta.\nSuurin osa katsojista ei pit\u00e4nyt alkoholimyynti\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4 pes\u00e4pallo-ottelussa.\n\nTulokset viittaavat siihen, ett\u00e4 pes\u00e4pallo on molempien sukupuolten laji sek\u00e4 kentill\u00e4 ett\u00e4 katsomoissa. Osa katsojista seuraa otteluita ilman vahvaa sidosta Kiritt\u00e4riin, mutta katsomosta l\u00f6ytyy my\u00f6s Kiritt\u00e4rien faneja. Kaikkiaan katsojilla on paljon erilaisia syit\u00e4 osallistua Kiritt\u00e4rien ottelutapahtumiin. Without sports spectators there would not be\nprofessional sports and athletes. However, there are different spectators in different sports. Finnish baseball has been studied relatively little even though Finnish baseball, the national game of Finland, is one of the most popular ball games in Finland. Kiritt\u00e4ret from Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is one of the most successful women\u2019s teams in the Finnish baseball league, Superpesis.\n\nThe purpose of the study is to determine the profile of the spectators of Finnish baseball team Kiritt\u00e4ret. In addition, the purpose is to examine the factors that motivate the spectators of Kiritt\u00e4ret to attend the games. The study is a quantitative survey research. The target group comprises the spectators of Kiritt\u00e4ret in the 2017 Finnish baseball season. The data (n=265) were collected via a questionnaire. The questionnaire based on earlier research on sports spectators.\n\nThe results of the study showed that both men and women were interested in watching the\ngame of Kiritt\u00e4ret. However, there were differences in age and occupation between men and\nwomen. Most spectators were from Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. They exercised a lot in their free time but over half of them had not played or coached Finnish baseball. For most spectators, watching Finnish baseball game in the stadium was a nice leisure activity which they wanted to spend time on. The spectators wanted to watch the elite league games and the finesse of the players. In addition, it is important for the spectators that the crowd cheers the players in the games. For most spectators, alcohol is not an important factor in the Finnish baseball games.\n\nThere are strong references to the fact that Finnish baseball is enjoyed equally by men and women. There are both the fans of Kiritt\u00e4ret and those who have not a strong relationship with Kiritt\u00e4ret in the games. All in all, the spectators of Kiritt\u00e4ret have lots of reasons to attend the games.
