Se aiheuttaa suuret vaatimukset\r\nhengitys- ja verenkiertoelimist\u00f6lle ja kuormittuneisuus voi ylt\u00e4\u00e4 l\u00e4helle maksimaalista hapenkulutusta (VO2max).\r\nLis\u00e4ksi joudutaan kantamaan ja k\u00e4sittelem\u00e4\u00e4n raskaita taakkoja, jolloin lihaksisto ja muut liikuntaelimet joutuvat\r\nkovaan rasitukseen. K\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4 monikerrosvaatetus ja muut suojavarusteet suojaavat ulkoiselta kuumuudelta,\r\nmutta voi aiheuttaa ylikuormitusta kehon syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6n noustessa. Syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6n voimakkaasta noususta voi\r\nseurata l\u00e4mp\u00f6uupumus tai jopa l\u00e4mp\u00f6halvaus. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli saada selville korreloiko kehon\r\nsyv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6 kuntotekij\u00f6iden ja kehonkoostumuksen kanssa savusukellus- ja raivausteht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 kuvaavassa\r\nty\u00f6nomaisessa suorituksessa. N\u00e4in yksitt\u00e4inen palomies saisi mahdollisesti tietoa mit\u00e4 fyysisi\u00e4 ominaisuuksia\r\nkannattaisi pyrki\u00e4 parantamaan est\u00e4\u00e4kseen liiallinen syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6n nousu oikeassa pelastusteht\u00e4v\u00e4ss\u00e4.\r\nPoikkeuksena aiempiin tutkimuksiin, t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa esimerkiksi kest\u00e4vyyssuorituskyvyn (VO2max) yhteytt\u00e4\r\nsyv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6\u00f6n tarkasteltiin my\u00f6s muita fyysisi\u00e4 ominaisuuksia vaativan ty\u00f6nomaisen suorituksen kanssa. Lis\u00e4ksi\r\npaksun vaatetuksen merkityst\u00e4 syv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6\u00f6n tarkasteltiin.\r\nTutkimukseen osallistui 10 tervett\u00e4 ja vapaaehtoista palomiest\u00e4 (28 \u2013 47 v.). Aluksi koehenkil\u00f6ille suoritettiin\r\nkehonkoostumusmittaus, josta selvitettiin kehon rasvaprosentti sek\u00e4 lihaksikkuudesta kertova FFMI (fat-free\r\nmass index). T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen koehenkil\u00f6t suorittivat 42 minuuttia kest\u00e4neen, savusukellus- ja raivausteht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4\r\nkuvaavan ty\u00f6testiradan sek\u00e4 t\u00e4ydess\u00e4 savusukellusvarustuksessa, ett\u00e4 kevyess\u00e4 urheiluvaatetuksessa\r\npaineilmalaitetta k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Ty\u00f6testien aikana koehenkil\u00f6ilt\u00e4 mitattiin kehon syv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6\u00e4 per\u00e4suolesta ja sykett\u00e4.\r\nKoehenkil\u00f6iden kest\u00e4vyyskunto (VO2max) mitattiin suoralla maksimaalisella polkupy\u00f6r\u00e4ergometritestill\u00e4 sek\u00e4\r\nlihasvoima ja -kest\u00e4vyys nelj\u00e4 eri liikett\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00e4neell\u00e4 lihaskuntotestill\u00e4. Kest\u00e4vyyskunnon ja lihaskunnon\r\nperusteella koehenkil\u00f6ille m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin n\u00e4m\u00e4 fyysiset ominaisuudet yhdist\u00e4v\u00e4 FireFit- indeksi. Jokaisen eri\r\nsuorituskykymittauksen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 koehenkil\u00f6ill\u00e4 oli v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n nelj\u00e4 vuorokautta palautumisaikaa.\r\nTutkimuksen p\u00e4\u00e4tuloksena oli, ett\u00e4 kuntotekij\u00e4t ja kehonkoostumus eiv\u00e4t korreloineet kehon syv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6\u00f6n\r\nt\u00e4ydess\u00e4 savusukellusvarustuksessa suoritetussa savusukellus- ja raivausteht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 kuvaavassa suorituksessa.\r\nKest\u00e4vyyskunnon ja lihaskunnon yhdist\u00e4v\u00e4 FireFit- indeksi korreloi negatiivisesti syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6n kanssa (r = \u2013\r\n0,939, p = 0,005), mutta vain kevyess\u00e4 vaatetuksessa tehdyss\u00e4 suorituksessa eik\u00e4 tuloksesta voida t\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi\r\nvet\u00e4\u00e4 johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksi\u00e4 oikeisiin ty\u00f6teht\u00e4viin. Kehon syv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6 ennen ty\u00f6testi\u00e4 (lepol\u00e4mp\u00f6) korreloi\r\nmaksimimaalisen syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6n kanssa sek\u00e4 t\u00e4ydess\u00e4 savusukellusvarustuksessa (r = 0,646, p = 0,044), ett\u00e4\r\nkevyess\u00e4 vaatetuksessa (r = 0,743, p = 0,035). My\u00f6s maksimaaliset syv\u00e4l\u00e4mm\u00f6t kevyess\u00e4 ja t\u00e4ydess\u00e4\r\nvarustuksessa korreloivat kesken\u00e4\u00e4n (r = 0,802, p = 0,017). T\u00e4ydess\u00e4 savusukellusvarustuksessa syv\u00e4l\u00e4mp\u00f6\r\nnousi testin aikana noin 40 % enemm\u00e4n (1,4 \u00b1 0,2 \u00b0C vs 1,0 \u00b1 0,1 \u00b0C) ja testin aikainen keskisyke oli noin 20 %\r\nsuurempi (153 \u00b1 11 bpm vs 128 \u00b1 15 bpm) kuin kevyess\u00e4 vaatetuksessa. It causes high demands on the respiratory and circulatory\r\nsystem and the stress can reach close to maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max). In addition, heavy loads must\r\nbe carried and handled, whereby muscles and other movement organs get heavily stressed. The multi-layered\r\nclothing and other protective equipment are used to protect against external heat but can cause overload as the\r\ncore temperature rises. A substantial rise in the core temperature might cause heat exhaustion or even heat\r\nstroke. The aim of the study was to find out does core temperature in a smoke diving job correlate with the\r\nfirefighter\u00b4s fitness factors and the body composition. Then, a single firefighter might get information what\r\nphysical properties would be useful to improve to prevent excessive core temperature rise in a real job.\r\nDifferently from previous studies, this study examined correlation between endurance performance (VO2max) and\r\ncore temperature in a physical performance that requires also other fitness factors like muscle strenght. The\r\nimportance of thick clothing to core temperature was also studied.\r\nTen healthy and voluntary firefighters (28-47 years) participated in the study. First subject\u00b4s body composition\r\nwas measured to determine fat percentage and fat-free mass index (FFMI). After that, subject performed a 42-\r\nminute work specific test track that described smoke diving job. It was performed both in a full smoke diving\r\nequipment and in a lightweight sports clothing. During the test track, core temperature was measured from the\r\nrectum and heart rate was monitored. Endurance performance (VO2max) of the subjects was measured by a\r\nmaximal bicycle ergometer test and muscular strength and -endurance with a muscle fitness test that contained\r\nfour different maneuvers. FireFit- index, that combines endurance performance and muscle fitness was\r\ndetermined for the subjects. Between each different performance measurement, the subjects had a recovery time\r\nof at least four days.\r\nThe main result of the study was that fitness factors and body composition did not correlate with core\r\ntemperature during the smoke diving task in full smoke dive equipment. FireFit- index correlated negatively with\r\ncore temperature (r = - 0.939, p = 0.005) but only when performed in light clothing. Therefore, no conclusions\r\ncan be made to a real job. Core temperature before the test track (rest temperature) correlated with the maximal\r\ncore temperature in full smoke diving equipment (r = 0.646, p = 0.044) and in light clothing (r = 0.743, p =\r\n0.035). Maximum core temperatures in light clothing and in full gear correlated with each other (r = 0.802, p =\r\n0.017). In full smoke diving equipment core temperature increased during the test track by about 40% (1.4 \u00b1 0.2\r\n\u00b0 C vs. 1.0 \u00b1 0.1 \u00b0 C) and the mean heart rate during the test track was about 20% higher (153 \u00b1 11 bpm vs 128 \u00b1\r\n15 bpm) than in light clothing. Based on this study, worse physical fitness, higher fat percentage or relative\r\nproportion of muscle mass are not correlated with greater core temperature rise in a smoke diving job. However,\r\ncore temperature before the task is correlated with how high and fast the core temperature rises.
