Etenkin kantojen korjuu on voimaper\u00e4inen toimenpide, jonka kaikkia ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutuksia ei viel\u00e4 tiedet\u00e4. Kantojen korjuu heikent\u00e4\u00e4 esimerkiksi lahopuusta riippuvaisten kaarnakuoriaisten (Scolytinae) elinmahdollisuuksia. Kaarnakuoriaisilla on t\u00e4rke\u00e4 rooli metsien luontaisessa h\u00e4iri\u00f6dynamiikassa ja ne tuottavat metsiin monille eli\u00f6lajeille elint\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 lahopuuta tappamalla heikentyneit\u00e4 puita. Kaarnakuoriaisten kyky tappaa hyv\u00e4kuntoisiakin puita massaesiintymien aikaan aiheuttaa kuitenkin huolta mets\u00e4nomistajien keskuudessa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, houkuttelevatko p\u00e4\u00e4tehakkuualojen kannot ja hakkuut\u00e4hdekasat kaarnakuoriaisia. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin my\u00f6s, onko kannon koolla, muiden sen ymp\u00e4rill\u00e4 olevien kantojen et\u00e4isyydell\u00e4 tai l\u00e4hialueen kantojen kokonaism\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ll\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4 kannoille p\u00e4\u00e4tyvien kaarnakuoriaisten yksil\u00f6- ja lajim\u00e4\u00e4rien kanssa. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Keski-Suomessa kuusta (Picea abies) kasvaneilta p\u00e4\u00e4tehakkuualoilta ristikkoikkunapyydyksill\u00e4. Hakkuualoja oli kaksi, joille molempiin asetettiin kaksi kuuden ikkunapyydyksen muodostamaa pyydysryhm\u00e4\u00e4 (toistoa). Pyydyksi\u00e4 asetettiin kussakin toistossa kolmeen eri kohteeseen: kannoille, hakkuut\u00e4hdekasoihin ja erilleen n\u00e4ist\u00e4 kahdelle et\u00e4isyydelle mets\u00e4n reunasta. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin 7.4.\u20131.7.2017. Aineistosta analysoitiin kantojen ja hakkuut\u00e4hteiden houkuttelevuutta vertaamalla eri kohteille p\u00e4\u00e4tyneiden kaarnakuoriaisten yksil\u00f6- ja lajim\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4 sek\u00e4 viiden runsaimman lajin yksil\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4. Kantomuuttujien ja kaarnakuoriaisten kokonaisyksil\u00f6- ja lajim\u00e4\u00e4rien sek\u00e4 viiden runsaimman lajin yksil\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4rien v\u00e4list\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4 analysoitiin Pearsonin korrelaatiokertoimien avulla. Tutkimuksessa saatiin yhteens\u00e4 3641 kaarnakuoriaisyksil\u00f6\u00e4 20 lajista. Kaarnakuoriaisten kokonaisyksil\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t olivat korkeampia kannoilla kuin muilla kohteilla. Kaarnakuoriaislajeja tuli enemm\u00e4n kannoille kuin muille kohteille etenkin my\u00f6hemmill\u00e4 pyyntijaksoilla, ja runsaimmista lajeista esimerkiksi havutikaskuoriaisen ja kannonhutikirjaajan havaittiin suosivan kantoja. Hakkuut\u00e4hdekasat eiv\u00e4t houkutelleet mink\u00e4\u00e4n kaarnakuoriaislajin yksil\u00f6it\u00e4. Kannon koko, muiden sen l\u00e4hell\u00e4 olleiden kantojen et\u00e4isyys tai l\u00e4hiymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n kantojen kokonaism\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 eiv\u00e4t vaikuttaneet kannolle p\u00e4\u00e4tyvien kaarnakuoriaisten yksil\u00f6- tai lajim\u00e4\u00e4riin tai viiden runsaimman lajin yksil\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4riin. These practises increase the amount of renewable bioenergy that can be harvested from clear cutting areas. All environmental effects of stump harvesting have not been investigated and it might threaten diversity of saproxylic organisms. Bark beetles (Scolytinae) are saproxylic beetles whose biodiversity might be affected by these new practises. Bark beetles have an important role in natural disturbance dynamics because they increase the volume of dead wood by killing weakened trees. During mass outbreaks bark beetles can also kill healthy trees. Bark beetles may cause economical risk and therefore their population sizes are controlled by forest hygienic practises. The aim of this study was to find out whether stumps or logging residues attract bark beetles. The aim was also to find out if the stump size, the number of nearby stumps or the distance to few other stumps affects the abundance of bark beetles on stumps. Bark beetles were collected with window-traps at two Norway spruce (Picea abies) dominated clear-cuts in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 in Central-Finland. Two replicate trap groups were set up in both clear cuts. In each replicate group traps were set in three different locations (at two distances from the clear-cut edge): on stumps, piles of logging residues and open ground. Bark beetles were collected from the end of April to the beginning of July. Effects of trap location on the numbers of barks beetles, number of species and numbers of individuals in the most common species were analysed. Correlations between the number of bark beetles and the stump data were tested with Pearson\u2019s correlation coefficients. Totally, 3641 bark beetle individuals were caught, and they belonged to 20 species. There were more beetles on stumps than on other locations. There were more bark beetle species on stumps than on other locations especially on later sampling periods. Trypodendron lineatum and Dryocoetes autographus were more abundant on stumps than on other locations. Logging residues did not attract individuals of any bark beetle species. The size of stumps, the number of nearby stumps or the distance of few other stumps didn\u2019t affect the abundance of bark beetles on stumps. According to these results stumps attract bark beetles in clear cutting areas. Stumps constitute a great part of dead wood resources in Finnish coniferous forests and they play an important role in biodiversity conservation.
