Erityispedagogian n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta tarkasteluni kohteena oli miten kolmiportainen tuki on implementoitu Abu Dhabin suomalais-emiraattilaisissa alakouluissa, kun taas etnologian n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta tarkastelun kohteena oli suomalaisen koulutusosaamisen siirt\u00e4minen toiseen koulukulttuuriin osana koulutuskumppanuushanketta. Aihetta tutkin kolmeen tutkimuskysymyksen kautta: 1) Mit\u00e4 kolmiportaisen tuen mallin sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja tavoitteita koulutuskumppanuushankkeessa (EPA) tuotettu opettajien k\u00e4sikirja (Student Learning Support Handbook) sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4? 2) Miten kouluissa on j\u00e4rjestetty kolmiportaiseen tukeen kuuluva yleinen, tehostettu ja erityinen tuki? 3) Mill\u00e4 tavalla suomalaista kolmiportaista tukimallia on mallinnettu Suomesta toiseen maahan? \r\n\r\nTutkimuksen toteutin laadullisia menetelmi\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Ensimm\u00e4ist\u00e4 tutkimusongelmaa tarkastelin analysoimalla hankkeessa tuotettua opettajien k\u00e4sikirjaa. Opettajan k\u00e4sikirjasta poimin kolmiportaisen tuen mallin tavoitteita ja sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 koskevia ilmauksia teorial\u00e4ht\u00f6isesti. Toista ja kolmatta tutkimusteht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4ni selvitin teemahaastattelemalla kuutta (6) suomalaista erityisopettajaa, jotka opettivat Abu Dhabin suomalais-emiraattilaisissa alakouluissa EPA-hankkeen aikana. Haastatteluaineiston analysoin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia. \r\n\r\nHankekirjallisuutta analysoimalla ilmeni, ett\u00e4 kolmiportaisen tuen mallin tavoitteet ja sis\u00e4ll\u00f6t n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyv\u00e4t samankaltaisina koulutuskumppanuushankkeessa tuotetun opettajan k\u00e4sikirjan, Student Support Handbookin, kanssa. \r\n\r\nHaastatteluista selvisi, ett\u00e4 erityisopettajien n\u00e4kemyksien mukaan kolmiportainen tuki ei EPA-kouluissa toiminut sellaisenaan k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4. Projektin aikana koulun toimintaan jalkautui kolmiportaisen tuen elementtej\u00e4, jotka olivat: Saattainvaihto, samanaikaisopetus, joustava tuki, oppimispulmien ennaltaehk\u00e4isy, asiakirjojen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 ja oppilashuoltotiimi. EPA-kouluissa ei oppilaiden tuen tarpeita luokiteltu yleiseen, tehostettuun tai erityiseen tukeen, kuten kolmiportaisessa tuen mallissa. Kouluissa sai kuitenkin yleist\u00e4 tukea luokassa ja sen lis\u00e4ksi osa oppilaista sai erityist\u00e4 tukea osa-aikaisesti. Lis\u00e4ksi henkil\u00f6kohtainen oppimissuunnitelma laadittiin oppilaille, jotka tarvitsivat s\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6llist\u00e4 tukea. Kolmiportaisen tukimallin jalkautumista edistiv\u00e4t koulun sis\u00e4set yhteisty\u00f6muodot, koulutustilaisuudet, koulujen resurssit ja paikallisen koulukulttuurin sek\u00e4 vanhempien hyv\u00e4 vastaanotto.
