Oppimisstrategioiden monipuolisen k\u00e4yt\u00f6n on havaittu vaikuttavan kielenoppimisen onnistumiseen. Oppimisstrategioiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 on kuitenkin t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 oppijat osaavat soveltaa oikeaa oppimisstrategiaa eri oppimistilanteissa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n takia on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 oppijoita ohjataan strategioiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4, jotta he kehittyv\u00e4t omien strategioidensa arvioijina ja osaavat soveltaa strategioitaan.\n\nTutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millaisia oppimisstrategioita ammattikorkeakouluopiskelijat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t, onko opiskelijoiden strategioiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6n ja heid\u00e4n menestyksens\u00e4 pakollisella ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n englannin kurssilla v\u00e4lill\u00e4 yhteys sek\u00e4 millaisia kokemuksia ja mielipiteit\u00e4 opiskelijoilla on strategiakoulutuksesta. Oppimisstrategioiden suhdetta oppimistuloksiin ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n Englannin opetuksen kontekstissa on tutkittu hyvin v\u00e4h\u00e4n. Tutkimus toteutettiin monimuototutkimuksena, jossa hy\u00f6dynnettiin\nsek\u00e4 laadullisia ett\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisi\u00e4 menetelmi\u00e4. Aineisto koostuu strategiakyselyst\u00e4, johon vastasi 78 opiskelijaa, sek\u00e4 nelj\u00e4n opiskelijan haastatteluista. Tutkimus toteutettiin yhdess\u00e4 ammattikorkeakoulussa.\n\nAmmattikorkeakoulun opiskelijat k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t suurinta osaa oppimisstrategioista kohtalaisen usein. Strategiat kielitaidon puutteiden kompensointiin olivat useimmiten k\u00e4ytettyj\u00e4 strategioita opiskelijoiden keskuudessa, ja muististrategioita taas k\u00e4ytettiin harvimmin. Kurssilla paremmin ja huonommin menestyneiden oppilaiden strategioiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6n v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittiin my\u00f6s eroja. Kun yksitt\u00e4isten strategioiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 tarkasteltiin, havaittiin, ett\u00e4 paremmin kurssilla suoriutuneet opiskelijat k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t eri oppimisstrategioita useammin ja k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t useampia strategioita hyvin usein kuin heikommin menestyneet. Sama toistui sek\u00e4 loppuarvosanoja ja opiskelijoiden tyytyv\u00e4isyytt\u00e4 tutkittaessa. Kognitiiviset strategiat, jotka liittyiv\u00e4t kielen kanssa toimimiseen, kuten lukeminen, korostuivat. Tutkimuksessa ilmeni, ett\u00e4 opiskelijat eiv\u00e4t juuri muista saaneensa n\u00e4kyv\u00e4\u00e4 ohjausta oppimisstrategioiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4. Opiskelijoiden asenne strategiakoulutusta kohtaan oli kuitenkin positiivinen. Opiskelijoiden mielest\u00e4 olisi t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 heid\u00e4n yksil\u00f6lliset piirteens\u00e4 ja tarpeensa otettaisiin ohjauksessa huomioon ja heille annettaisiin keinot arvioida strategioidensa sopivuutta.
