Tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten arviointi vaikuttaa opiskelijoiden opiskeluk\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen, motivaatioon, oppimiseen ja tunteisiin. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin, millaista arviointia kemian tunneilla on k\u00e4ytetty, ja mik\u00e4 on opiskelijoiden mielest\u00e4 arvioinnin tarkoitus. Tutkimus toteutettiin haastattelututkimuksena kahdeksalle lukio-opiskelijalle.\r\n\r\nTutkielman kirjallisessa osassa k\u00e4siteltiin arviointia, sen menetelmi\u00e4 ja motivaatiota. Arviointia k\u00e4siteltiin niin kemian opetuksen, opetussuunnitelman perusteiden kuin opiskelijoidenkin n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmista. Motivaatiota k\u00e4siteltiin sis\u00e4isen ja ulkoisen motivaation teorian, itseohjautuvuusteorian ja tavoiteorientaatioiden kautta. Lis\u00e4ksi k\u00e4siteltiin arvioinnin vaikutuksia sek\u00e4 oppimiseen ett\u00e4 motivaatioon. \r\n\r\nKokeellisen osan perusteella saatiin selville, ett\u00e4 saman ryhm\u00e4n opiskelijoilla on hyvin erilaisia k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 siit\u00e4, miten heid\u00e4n ty\u00f6skentely\u00e4\u00e4n arvioidaan. My\u00f6s n\u00e4kemykset arvioinnin tarkoituksesta vaihtelivat huomattavasti. Vastausten perusteella saatiin kuitenkin kattava kuvaus todellisuutta vastaavasta arvioinnin tarkoituksesta. Opiskelijat pitiv\u00e4t arvioinnin t\u00e4rkeimpin\u00e4 teht\u00e4vin\u00e4 motivointia, palautteenantoa, opetuksen kehityst\u00e4 sek\u00e4 opiskelijoiden asettamista tasa-arvoiseen asemaan.\r\n\r\nOpiskelijoiden mukaan arvioinnin lis\u00e4\u00e4minen oppitunneilla lis\u00e4isi heid\u00e4n opiskeluun k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4ns\u00e4 aikaa, mutta t\u00e4t\u00e4 pidettiin ongelmallisena, sill\u00e4 opiskeluun koettiin nyt jo k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4n paljon resursseja. Opiskelijat toivoivat saavansa oppitunneilla lis\u00e4\u00e4 positiivista palautetta omasta osaamisestaan, mutta jatkuvan arvioinnin konsepti ahdisti osaa opiskelijoista. Opiskelijat kokivat oppimisen suhteen hy\u00f6dyllisimm\u00e4ksi arviointimuodoksi kirjallisen palautteen, mutta todellisuudessa opiskelijoille arvosanat merkitsiv\u00e4t enemm\u00e4n.\r\n\r\nArviointi vaikutti my\u00f6s vaihtelevasti opiskelijoiden tunteisiin. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin kaksi \u00e4\u00e4rip\u00e4\u00e4t\u00e4.
