Tutkimuksen aineistona oli kahdeksan luokanopettajaa Etel\u00e4- ja Keski-Pohjanmaalta. Haastatteluaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin elo-marraskuun aikana 2016. Tutkimuksen viitekehyksen\u00e4 on fenomenografinen tutkimusote. \r\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 motivointia pidettiin vaikuttavana tekij\u00e4n\u00e4 oppimisessa. Motivointi edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 opettajalta oman ammatillisuuden kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4 ja reflektoivaa ty\u00f6otetta. Motivointi k\u00e4sitettiin oppimista edist\u00e4v\u00e4ksi tekij\u00e4ksi, jonka k\u00e4ytt\u00e4misess\u00e4 korostuu oppilasl\u00e4ht\u00f6inen oppiminen. Motivoinnissa my\u00f6s hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n monipuolisia oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6j\u00e4. \r\nMotivointi katsottiin olevan kiinte\u00e4 osa oppimista \u2013 se n\u00e4htiin oppimisen peruspilariksi ja iloa lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4ksi tekij\u00e4ksi oppimisessa. Motivoinnin kautta voidaan lis\u00e4t\u00e4 psyykkisen turvallisuuden kokemista oppimisilmapiiriss\u00e4. Tutkimuksesta k\u00e4vi ilmi, ett\u00e4 koulun toimintakulttuurilla on vaikutusta siihen, millaiset mahdollisuudet motivoinnilla on suhteessa oppimiseen. Oppiainerajat ja -ajat ylitt\u00e4viss\u00e4 oppimiskokonaisuuksissa motivoinnin mahdollisuudet n\u00e4htiin laajemmiksi kuin perinteisess\u00e4 oppitunti-v\u00e4litunti -rytmityksess\u00e4. Yhdeksi motivoinnin haasteeksi k\u00e4sitettiin sen kuluttavuus suhteessa opettajan ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 jaksamiseen ja hyvinvointiin.
