Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu \u2013 tutkielma, 58.\r\nSuomen kouluhistorian alussa koulumaailma oli jakautunut sukupuolten mukaan poikakouluihin sek\u00e4 tytt\u00f6kouluihin. Liikuntaa alettiin opettaa pojille pakollisena oppiaineena vuoden 1840 alussa, ja tyt\u00f6t p\u00e4\u00e4siv\u00e4t oppimaan liikuntaa vuodesta 1899 alkaen. Vasta vuonna 1975 kumottiin laki, jonka mukaan nainen ei ollut kelpoinen er\u00e4isiin valtion virkoihin tai toimiin. T\u00e4m\u00e4n kumoamisen j\u00e4lkeen monissa alakouluissa alettiin opettaa liikuntaa pojille ja tyt\u00f6ille yhdess\u00e4. Yhteisopetus ei koskenut yl\u00e4koulua, vaan viel\u00e4 vuoden 1985 opetussuunnitelman perusteissa eriteltiin tarkasti mit\u00e4 lajeja yl\u00e4koulun liikunnanopetuksessa tuli opettaa tyt\u00f6ille ja mit\u00e4 pojille. Maailman muuttuessa my\u00f6s koulun t\u00e4ytyy muuttua, ja vuonna 2016 voimaan tullut uusi peruskoulun opetussuunnitelma ei en\u00e4\u00e4 erottelekaan oppilaita sukupuolen mukaan. Suomi on Euroopan ainut maa, jossa edelleen mietit\u00e4\u00e4n kuuluuko liikuntaa opettaa sukupuolen mukaan jaetuissa ryhmiss\u00e4, vai yhteisopetuksena. Pro gradu \u2013 tutkimukseni tarkoitus oli ottaa selv\u00e4\u00e4 Salon Halikossa sijaitsevan Armfeltin koulun yhteisopetukseen siirtyneiden oppilaiden ajatuksista yhteisopetuksesta. Tulosten on tarkoitus auttaa jatkossa rehtoria, kun h\u00e4n muodostaa liikunnan opetusryhmi\u00e4. \r\nOppilaat kirjoittivat minulle aiheesta aineet, jotka min\u00e4 sain nimett\u00f6min\u00e4. Luokassa on oppilaita 20, joista 10 tytt\u00f6\u00e4 ja 10 poikaa. Aineet kirjoitettiin \u00e4idinkielentunnilla kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2016, jolloin oppilaat olivat olleet yhteisopetuksessa n. puoli vuotta. Teemoittelin aineissa esiintyv\u00e4t asiat samankaltaisuuksien mukaan, ja huomasin, ett\u00e4 monet olivat kirjoittaneet samoista asioista, vaikka kirjoittivatkin eri sanoin. \r\nVastoin omaa esioletustani, olivat oppilaat suurimmilta osin tyytyv\u00e4isi\u00e4 yhteisopetukseen, ja pitiv\u00e4t yhteisopetusta monipuolisempana kuin sukupuolen mukaan jaetuissa ryhmiss\u00e4 opetettuja liikuntatunteja. Oppilaat olivat my\u00f6s sit\u00e4 mielt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 luokkahenki oli parantunut oman luokan kesken, ja muutenkin liikunta oli mukavaa ja rentoa, kun ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 kaikki tunsivat toisensa. Oppilaat l\u00f6ysiv\u00e4t vain v\u00e4h\u00e4n negatiivisia puolia liikunnan yhteisopetuksesta. \r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n Pro gradu \u2013 tutkimuksen tulos lis\u00e4si mielenkiintoani aiheeseen, ja mielest\u00e4ni lis\u00e4tutkimukset olisivat tarpeen. Mixed group education in grades 7-9 \u2013 students wish or horror? Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s thesis of Sport Pedagogy, 58.\r\nIn the beginning of school history in Finland the schooling world was divided according to sex. There were separate schools for boys and girls. In the early 1840 physical education became one of the mandatory school subjects for boys. Girls had to wait until year 1899 when the schools started teaching physical education for girls too. It was not until year 1975 when a law against women in certain public service was abolished. After this abolishment they started to teach physical education in many primary schools for boys and girls together, in mixed groups. However this mixed group teaching did not include lower secondary school and in the curriculum of 1985 there were still very exact rules about what sports they should teach for boys and what for girls. As the world changes the school needs to change too and the newest curriculum which validated in 2016 does not separate students according to sex anymore. Finland is the only country in the Europe where they still consider whether physical education should be taught in same sex groups or in mixed groups. The purpose of my Master\u2019s thesis was to find out what the students in mixed group teaching in Armfelt school in Salo think about the physical education in mixed group. The meaning of the outcome of this study is to help the principal in the future when he\u2019s making new physical education teaching groups.\r\nStudents wrote me essays about their thoughts and opinions and I got those essays nameless. There were 10 girls and 10 boys, all together 20 students in that class. The essays were written in their Finnish (as their native language) class in March 2016, when the students had been studying physical education in mixed group around 6-7 months. I searched similarities and same kind of themes from the essays and noticed that many of the students wrote about the same things even though they wrote with different words. \r\nAgainst my assumption all the students were mainly happy about being in mixed group and they thought that teaching in mixed group was more diverse than in same sex group. They also said that team spirit became better within their class and P.E. classes were all together nice and relaxed when they all knew each other. They could not think many bad things to say about mixed group education.\r\nThe result of this Master\u2019s Theses gained my interest in the subject and I think more studies are needed. Critical periods of motor skills and learning are in different time for girls and boys. Is mixed group teaching causing challenges for motor learning?
