Tutkimusaihe on t\u00e4rke\u00e4, koska suomen s\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6nmukaisessa kirjoitusj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4ss\u00e4 nimenomaan lukusujuvuus on lukijoita erotteleva tekij\u00e4. Englannin kieleen painottuneissa tutkimuksissa on pitk\u00e4\u00e4n kiinnitetty huomiota lukutarkkuuteen lukusujuvuuden sijaan. Tutkimuksemme aineisto on osa FLARE-tutkimushankkeen aineistoa, joka ker\u00e4ttiin viidest\u00e4 keskisuomalaisesta koulusta 1\u20132-luokkalaisilta oppilailta vuonna 2016. Pitkitt\u00e4istutkimukseen osallistui 200 oppilasta. Yksil\u00f6- ja ryhm\u00e4teht\u00e4vin\u00e4 toteutetut mittaukset tehtiin ensimm\u00e4isen luokan kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 ja toisen luokan syksyll\u00e4. Aineistoa analysoitiin hierarkkisella lineaarisella regressioanalyysilla, korrelaatioanalyysilla ja ristiintaulukoinnilla. Kaikki kognitiiviset taustataidot selittiv\u00e4t \u00e4\u00e4nett\u00f6m\u00e4n lukemisen sujuvuutta ensimm\u00e4isell\u00e4 luokalla ja nopea sarjallinen nime\u00e4minen, fonologinen tietoisuus sek\u00e4 kielellinen ty\u00f6muisti my\u00f6s \u00e4\u00e4neen lukemisen sujuvuutta. Sen sijaan kognitiiviset taustataidot selittiv\u00e4t hyvin heikosti toisen luokan lukusujuvuutta, kun ensimm\u00e4isen luokan lukusujuvuus oli vakioitu. Lukusujuvuus n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyi tutkimuksessa hyvin pysyv\u00e4n\u00e4 taitona tutkitussa kehityksen vaiheessa. Tuloksista voidaan p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4 kognitiiviset taustataidot vaikuttavat toisen luokan lukusujuvuuteen ep\u00e4suorasti ensimm\u00e4isen luokan lukusujuvuuden kautta. In this study we analyzed four assumed reading fluency cognitive skills: rapid automatized naming, phonological knowledge, phonological working memory and counting skills. The theme of this research is important because reading fluency separates readers from each other in transparent orthographies like Finnish. The researches that focus on the English language emphasize more on reading accuracy than fluency. The data in this study is part of the FLARE-research project\u2019s data and it is collected from five schools in Middle Finland in 2016. In this longitudinal study there were 200 pupils participating and they were in the first and second grade. The tasks were made in individual and group situations and they were carried out first time in the spring of the first class and as a follow-up in the autumn of the second class. The data was analyzed by using hierarchical linear regression analysis, correlation analysis and cross-tabulation. The results suggest that all cognitive skills were connected to reading fluency in silent reading in the first class. Rapid automatized naming, phonological knowledge and phonological working memory also predicted reading fluency in reading out loud. Instead, cognitive skills explained reading fluency in the second class marginally when reading fluency in the first class was controlled. According to this study reading fluency seems to be an extremely stable skill in the stage of the development the study was carried out. The findings indicate that cognitive skills indirectly affect reading fluency in the second class via reading fluency in the first class.
