Motivaation edist\u00e4minen liikunnan opetuksessa n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n isona haasteena johtuen ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 toimivien yksil\u00f6iden v\u00e4lisist\u00e4 eroista. Motivaation taustalla vaikuttavista tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4 voidaan kuitenkin l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 yleisesti p\u00e4tevi\u00e4 vaikuttimia, joiden avulla motivaation muodostumista positiiviseksi voidaan edist\u00e4\u00e4. Opettajan rooli on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 tarkasteltaessa oppilaiden motivaatiota ja motivaatioilmapiirin muodostumista liikuntatunneilla. \r\n\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n pro-gradu tutkielman tarkoitus oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 motivaation ja motivoinnin taustalla vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 liikunnanopetuksen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n opettajan ty\u00f6ss\u00e4. Millaisena oppilaiden motivaatio ja motivointi n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyiv\u00e4t liikunnan opetuksessa ja mink\u00e4laisia motivoinnin keinoja opettajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t, sek\u00e4 millaisina motivoinnin kohteina opettajat kokevat nykyp\u00e4iv\u00e4n oppilaat? Tutkimus toteutettiin haastattelututkimuksena, johon osallistui viisi yhden kaakkoissuomalaisen yhten\u00e4iskoulun liikunnanopettajaa. Tutkimusjoukko koostui kahdesta naisopettajasta ja kolmesta miesopettajasta, jotka kaikki olivat toimineet ty\u00f6ss\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n 15 vuotta.\r\n\r\nOpettajien kokemusten mukaan oppilaiden motivaatio n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyi liikunnan opetuksessa p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa positiivisena ja oppilaat koettiin hyvin motivoituneiksi. Sis\u00e4inen motivaatio n\u00e4htiin yleisesti hyv\u00e4n\u00e4 ja tavoiteltavana asiana. Keskeisimmiksi asioiksi oppilaiden motivoinnissa k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n tasolla nousivat yksil\u00f6l\u00e4ht\u00f6iset toimintatavat sek\u00e4 erityisesti p\u00e4tevyyden ja autonomian kokemusten aikaansaaminen liikuntatilanteiden yhteydess\u00e4. Oppilaiden motivaation ja motivoinnin koettiin olevan menossa koko ajan yksil\u00f6llisemp\u00e4\u00e4n suuntaan ja oppilasryhmien n\u00e4htiin muuttuneen entist\u00e4 heterogeenisemmiksi.\r\n\r\nTutkimukseen osallistuneiden opettajien kokemukset vahvistavat olemassa olevia teorioita ja aikaisempia tutkimustuloksia oppilaiden motivaatiosta ja motivoinnista sek\u00e4 niihin vaikuttavista tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4. Increasing student motivation in physical education is seen as a major challenge due to individual differences among students. Positive motivation can be increased with the help of some general guidelines. The teacher\u2019s role is significantly related to student motivation during physical education lessons. This study highlights ways to motivate both groups and individual students. \r\n\r\nThe aim of this study was to investigate motivation from a practical physical education perspective. How was student motivation present in physical education? In which ways did the teachers motivate their students and use these methods of motivation in their everyday work? Also, what was the teachers\u2019 perception of modern students as targets of motivation? The study was carried out as a qualitative survey. The five participants (3 men and 2 women) were all physical education teachers from a comprehensive school in South-East Finland. They had been working as teachers at least for 15 years. \r\n\r\nTeachers experienced mainly positive student motivation in physical education. Inner motivation was commonly seen as a good and desirable matter. Student-oriented, individual working methods enabling student autonomy were key elements in increasing student motivation. Motivating students was seen to become ever more individual with more and more heterogeneous groups. \r\n\r\nAs a conclusion, the experiences of the teachers were in line with existing theories and research results related to student motivation and the affecting factors behind motivation.
