Liikuntatieteellinen tiedekunta, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma, 77 s., 1 liite. \r\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassa olen tutkinut sukupuolen diskursseja liikuntapedagogiikan opiskelijoiden kouluttajien puheessa. Liikunta on ainoa oppiaine, jossa oppilaat on p\u00e4\u00e4asiallisesti jaettu erillisryhmiin sukupuolensa perusteella, samoin opettajien rekrytointi on sukupuoliperusteista. Lukuisissa tutkimuksissa on todettu yleisesti koulujen piilo-opetussuunnitelman vahvistavan perinteisi\u00e4 sukupuolirooleja ja kohtelevan tytt\u00f6- ja poikaoppilaita erilaisin kriteerein ja vaatimuksin. Liikunnan tapauksessa toiminta on erityisen sukupuolittunutta my\u00f6s opetussis\u00e4ll\u00f6iss\u00e4. Olen halunnut tutkia erityisesti juuri Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopiston liikuntapedagogiikan opettajia, koska k\u00e4sitykseni mukaan liikuntapedagogiikan p\u00e4\u00e4aineella ja sen opettajilla on paljon valtaa siihen, miten ja mit\u00e4 koulujen liikuntatunneilla opetetaan, my\u00f6s sukupuolen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. K\u00e4sittelen n\u00e4it\u00e4 opettajia siis t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa institutionaalisina vallank\u00e4ytt\u00e4jin\u00e4, joiden puheen diskurssit sukupuolesta vaikuttavat liikunnanopettajien koulutukseen ja siten my\u00f6skin liikunnanopetuksen sis\u00e4lt\u00f6ihin ja k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteisiin kouluissa. \r\nAineisto ker\u00e4ttiin kirjallisin puolistrukturoiduin teemahaastatteluin ja se analysoitiin diskurssianalyysill\u00e4 kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2017. Haastattelulomakkeet l\u00e4hetettiin 10:lle liikuntapedagogiikan opiskelijoiden opettajalle. Vastauksia palautui kuusi. Vastaajista kolme oli miest\u00e4 ja kolme naista. Vastauksista eroteltiin ensin kohdat, jotka koskivat kyselylomakkeen eri teemoja: sukupuolta, seksuaalisuutta, liikunnan erillis- ja yhteisopetusta, opettajan sukupuolta, sukupuolen k\u00e4sittely\u00e4 liikunnanopettajakoulutuksessa sek\u00e4 tasa-arvoa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen vastauksia k\u00e4siteltiin teemojen mukaisina kokonaisuuksina ja niist\u00e4 etsittiin yhdist\u00e4vi\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4, joista diskurssit muodostettiin. Ilmaisujen merkityksen tulkinnassa k\u00e4ytettiin kuitenkin apuna vastaajien koko vastausta.\r\nAnalyysissa vastauksista erottui kolme p\u00e4\u00e4diskurssia. Olen nimennyt ne sukupuolinormatiivisuuden, sukupuolisensitiivisyyden ja sukupuolineutraaliuden diskursseiksi. N\u00e4ist\u00e4 sukupuolinormatiivisuuden diskurssi on aineistossa hallitsevin. Sukupuolinormatiivisessa diskurssissa on piirteit\u00e4 hegemonisesta maskuliinisuudesta sek\u00e4 heteronormatiivisuudesta. N\u00e4it\u00e4 piirteit\u00e4 aineistossa edustavat maskuliinisuuden ja feminiinisyyden erottelu oppilaiden ominaisuuksissa ja mieltymyksiss\u00e4 sek\u00e4 opetuksen ja opettajien sukupuoliperusteisuudessa Sukupuolisensitiivisen diskurssin ilmaisuja olivat n\u00e4kemys omien sukupuolin\u00e4kemysten, arvojen ja asenteiden pohtimisen t\u00e4rkeydest\u00e4 sek\u00e4 niiden vaikutukset oppimiseen, koulun arvojen, k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteiden ja toimintatapojen mahdollinen vaikutus yksil\u00f6iden eriarvoistamiseen, sukupuolisen lokeroinnin tiedostaminen ajattelutapana urheilussa sek\u00e4 opettajan ammattitaidon kehitt\u00e4minen sukupuolisensitiivisen ajattelun kautta. Sukupuolineutraalin diskurssin osuus j\u00e4i aineistossa v\u00e4h\u00e4iseksi. Kaikissa diskursseissa pidettiin t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4, ett\u00e4 opettajalla s\u00e4ilyy mahdollisuus valita ja muokata opetustapaa tilanteen mukaan joustavasti ja monipuolisesti. Ylh\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4 k\u00e4sin luotu pakko jompaan kumpaan opetustapaan, yhteisryhm\u00e4- tai erillisopetukseen n\u00e4htiin haitallisena.\r\nLiikunnanopetus on kouluissa t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 sukupuolen perusteella vahvasti jaoteltua. Siksi tulkitsen sukupuolinormatiivisen diskurssin olevan my\u00f6s hegemonisen diskurssin asemassa koulujen liikunnanopetuksessa. Sukupuolen merkitys ja vaikutus tulisi nostaa esille alan sis\u00e4isess\u00e4 keskustelussa ja opetuksen kehitt\u00e4misess\u00e4. Liikunnanopettajien koulutussis\u00e4ll\u00f6iss\u00e4 tulisi pyrki\u00e4 sukupuolitietoiseen ja sukupuolisensitiiviseen koulutukseen. Department of Sport Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s thesis for sport pedagogy, 77 pp.. 1 appendix.\r\nIn this master\u2019s thesis I have studied the discourses of gender in sport pedagogys\u2019 students\u2019 teachers\u2019 speech. Physical education (PE) is the only school subject in which the students have been mostly divided into gender based groups. Also the recruiting of PE teachers is based on gender, the standard model is that males teach boys and females teach girls. According to various studies generally there is a hidden curricula in Finnish schools that reinforces traditional gender roles and treats girl and boy students with different criteria and requirments. In the case of PE also the contents and practices of teaching are gendered. In this thesis I wanted to study sport pedagogy\u2019s teachers in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 University because my perception is that sport pedagogy major and its teachers have power to influence what and how PE is taught in school lessons through their status as PE teacher educators, also from gender perspective. In this study, I define the educators as users of institutional power whose discourses of gender affect on PE teachers training and on the contents and practices of PE teaching in schools.\r\nResearch was conducted as a case study and the material was gathered with written, semistructural thematic interviews. The texts were analyzed with discourse analysis during spring 2017. The interview forms were sent to 10 teachers of sport pedagogy students. 6 answers were returned. 3 of the informants were women and 3 men. In the beginning of the analyze, first the themes were separated from the texts. Themes were sex and gender, sexuality, teaching the girls and boys as separate or joint groups in PE, teacher\u2019s gender, gender in PE teacher training and equality. After this the answers were processed as thematic entities and common features were searched within these themes. The discourses were formed from these common features.\r\nIn the analysis, three main discourses were found. I have named them as the discourses of gender normativity gender sensitivity and gender neutralitity. The discourse of gender normativity was more dominating. The features of gender normativity in the research material represent the separation of feminine and masculine in the students qualities, the students sport preferences and in the gendered teaching practices and The features of gender sensitive discourse were understanding the importance of acknowledging teachers\u2019 and school environment\u2019s views, values, attitudes and practices towards gender and their possible influence for individual\u2019s learning, their potential discriminative effect, acknowledging gender-based classificatory way of thought in sport and developing the professional skills and competence of PE teachers through gender sensitive thinking. Gender neutrality was a minor discourse in the research. In all of the discourses it was considerent important to maintain teachers ability to select the way of teaching, e.g. gender-segregated or c grouping in PE, according to the need of pedagogy and group. Making either one of the groupings mandatory was considered harmful. \r\nCurrently the practices of teaching PE are strongly gendered in Finnish schools. Thus my conclusion is that hegemonic masculinity is also in the position of hegemonic discourse in PE teaching. The topic of gender should be widely discussed within the field of sport pedagogy, in developing PE teaching and in the contents of PE teacher training towards more acknowledging and gender sensitive sport pedagogy.
