Molemmat ovat t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 peruskoulun vuosiluokilla 3\u20136 ja kirjat seuraavat\r\neri opetussuunnitelmaa. Yippee! 6 Reader (2016) seuraa uudempaa Perusopetuksen\r\nopetussuunnitelman perusteita 2014 (POPS 2014) ja Wow! 6 Study Book (2015) Perusopetuksen\r\nopetussuunnitelman perusteita 2004 (POPS 2004), ja t\u00e4m\u00e4 mahdollisti tulosten vertailun. Analyysissa\r\nkeskityttiin siihen, onko sukupuolten esiintyminen kuvissa ja teksteiss\u00e4 tasapuolista ja millaista\r\nliikuntaa tyt\u00f6t ja pojat kirjoissa harrastivat. Lis\u00e4ksi haluttiin selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, onko kirjojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 eroja ja\r\nvoisiko eri opetussuunnitelmien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 selitt\u00e4\u00e4 n\u00e4it\u00e4 eroja.\r\nSukupuolten tasa-arvoon oppikirjoissa on kiinnitetty huomiota jo pitk\u00e4\u00e4n. Aiemmat tutkimukset\r\noppikirjojen sukupuolikuvauksesta osoittavat, ett\u00e4 oppimateriaaleista l\u00f6ytyy miesten ja naisten\r\nep\u00e4tasa-arvoisia ja sukupuolia yleist\u00e4vi\u00e4 kuvauksia.\r\nTulokset noudattivat hypoteesia, jonka mukaan miespuolisia hahmoja esiintyy oppikirjoissa\r\nkeskim\u00e4\u00e4rin huomattavasti enemm\u00e4n kuin naisia ja sukupuolille on annettu toisistaan eroavat roolit.\r\nVaikka tutkimus mukaili aikaisempien tutkimusten tuloksia oppikirjojen miesvaltaisuudesta, ei laajoja\r\nyleistyksi\u00e4 suomalaisten oppikirjojen tilasta voi tehd\u00e4.
