Liikunta-pedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma. 63 s.\r\n\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tapaustutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten oppilaat kokevat liikuntav\u00e4litunnin ja fyysisen aktiivisuuden lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymisen sek\u00e4 vaikutukset omaan fyysiseen kuntoon. Liikunta-v\u00e4litunti tuli Haapaj\u00e4rven yl\u00e4asteelle lukuvuonna 2015\u20132016 liittyen Liikkuva koulu -hankkeeseen. Passiivinen ja istuva el\u00e4m\u00e4ntapa on lis\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt, joten tutkimus antaa k\u00e4sityksen liikuntav\u00e4litunnin mahdollisuudesta vastata passiiviseen el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyyliin. Kohdejoukkona tutkimuksessa olivat Haapaj\u00e4rven yl\u00e4asteen pojat. Tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin survey (kysely) -menetelm\u00e4\u00e4, joka sis\u00e4lsi Likert-asteikkoon pohjautuvia suljettuja kysymyksi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 avoimia kysymyksi\u00e4 liikuntav\u00e4litunnista. Toisena aineistona tutkimuksessa on oppilaiden fyysisten testien tulokset lukuvuosilta 2013\u20132014, 2014\u20132015 ja 2015\u20132016, joista on muo-dostettu keskiarvot luokkatasoittain. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin SPSS -ohjelmalla k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 ristiintaulukointia ja Khiin neli\u00f6 (x2) testi\u00e4.\r\n \r\nLiikuntav\u00e4litunti koettiin kokonaisuudessaan mielekk\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4, mutta fyysisten testien tulokset eiv\u00e4t olleet merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti vaihdelleet viimeisen kolmen vuoden aikana. Liikuntav\u00e4litunnilla 7.-luokkalaiset oppilaat kokivat olevansa selv\u00e4sti aktiivisempia verrattaessa 8.- ja 9.-luokkalaisiin. He my\u00f6s kokivat oman fyysisen kuntonsa paremmaksi juoksukunnon ja lihaskunnon osalta kuin 8.- ja 9.-luokkalaiset. 7.- ja 8.- luokkalaiset osallistuivat liikuntav\u00e4litunnille hyvin innokkaasti, mutta vastaavasti 9.- luokkalaiset eiv\u00e4t. N\u00e4m\u00e4 kokivat, ett\u00e4 liikuntav\u00e4litunti ei juuri ollut vaikuttanut heid\u00e4n fyysiseen kuntoonsa. My\u00f6s 8.-luokkalaiset kokivat olevansa aktiivisempia kuin 9.-luokkalaiset ja he my\u00f6s kokivat fyysisen kuntonsa paremmaksi kuin 9.-luokkalaiset. Liikuntav\u00e4litunnin koettiin my\u00f6s motivoivan liikkumista vapaa-ajalla erityisesti 7.- ja 8.-luokkalaisten osalta. Huolestuttavaa on kuitenkin, ett\u00e4 suuri osa 9.-luokkalaisista ei innostunut liikuntav\u00e4litunnista fyysisen kunnon kehitt\u00e4miseksi, ja se ei motivoinut liikkumaan vapaa-ajalla. Exercise-Focused Recess and Its Connections to the Development of Physical Fitness: A Case Study of Boys\u2019 Experiences in Secondary School in Haapaj\u00e4rvi. Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. Master\u2019s Thesis, 63 pages.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of this case study was to find out how pupils experience an exercise-focused re-cess and the resulting increase in physical activity as well as what the effects are on their own physical condition. The exercise-focused recess came to Haapaj\u00e4rvi in the school year of 2015-2016 as part of the Moving School-project. A passive and seated lifestyle has become more common, so the study provides a view on the chances of an exercise-focused recess to counteract this passive way of living. The subjects under study were the boys in secondary school in Haapaj\u00e4rvi. The research method used was a survey containing questions based on the Likert-scale as well as other, more open-ended questions about the exercise-focused re-cess. Further material came from physical fitness test results from the years 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, which have been formed into averages on a grade-level basis. The re-search material was analysed on the SPSS-program using cross tabulation and the chi-squared test.\r\n\r\nOn the whole, the exercise-focused recess was experienced as meaningful, but the results of physical fitness tests had not varied significantly in the past three years. During the exercise-focused recess, seventh-graders saw themselves as being clearly more active in comparison to eighth- and ninth-graders. They also experienced their physical condition as better, as far as running endurance and muscular fitness are concerned, than eighth- and ninth-graders. Sev-enth- and eighth-graders took part in the exercise-focused recess very enthusiastically, but ninth-graders by comparison did not. They thought that the exercise-focused recess had not really affected their physical condition. Eighth-graders saw themselves as more active than ninth-graders as well, and they also considered their physical condition to be better than did ninth-graders. The exercise-focused recess was also seen as motivational regarding exercise done during one\u2019s free time, particularly among seventh- and eighth-graders. However, it is worrisome that a large number of ninth-graders were not enthusiastic about the exercise-focused recess as a way of improving fitness, and were not motivated by it to move more in their free time.
