Teoreettisia viitekehyksi\u00e4 ovat konstruktivistinen ja pragmaattinen l\u00e4hestymistapa sek\u00e4 oppimiseen ett\u00e4 vuorovaikutukseen. Pedagoginen viitekehys on yhteistoiminnallinen oppiminen osallistavana ty\u00f6skentelytapana. Tutkimuksessa pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, lis\u00e4\u00e4k\u00f6 yhteistoiminnan musiikillisuus erityisopiskelijoiden osallistumista.\r\n\r\nAineisto ker\u00e4ttiin etnografisella menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 ammatillisessa erityisoppilaitoksessa tutkijan osallistumalla toimintaan opettajan roolissa. Tutkimukseen osallistui kymmenen 16\u201321-vuotiasta erityisopiskelijaa. Empiirinen aineisto koostuu yhteens\u00e4 2 t 35 min 21 s videoidusta yhteistoiminnasta, ja se ker\u00e4ttiin yksil\u00f6ty\u00f6skentelyst\u00e4, keskustelusta ja musiikillisesta yhteistoiminnasta. Litteroitu aineisto analysoitiin keskustelunanalyyttisell\u00e4 menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 tarkoitukseen sopivalla tavalla. Aineiston \u00e4\u00e4nellisen ilmaisun luokittelussa puheeseen, soittoon, lauluun ja muuhun ilmaisuun hy\u00f6dynnettiin multimodaalisen vuorovaikutusanalyysin n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaa. \u00c4\u00e4nellisen ilmaisun tarkoituksenmukaisuutta arvioidessa hy\u00f6dynnettiin Robert Balesin ryhm\u00e4n havainnointiluokitusta.\r\n\r\nTutkimustulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 yhteistoiminnan musiikillisuus lis\u00e4\u00e4 selv\u00e4sti erityisopiskelijoiden osallistumista. L\u00e4sn\u00e4oloajastaan kaikki opiskelijat olivat suuremman osan \u00e4\u00e4ness\u00e4 musiikillisissa yhteistoimintatilanteissa kuin keskustelutilanteissa. Keskustelussa kielellinen ep\u00e4symmetria ilmeni lukuisina korjausjaksoina ja ty\u00f6njaossa niin, ett\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4n keskustelutaidoiltaan kompetentein oli eniten \u00e4\u00e4ness\u00e4. Musiikillisessa yhteistoiminnassa opiskelijoiden ilmaisuosuudet jakautuivat symmetrisemmin kuin keskustelussa. Musiikillisen yhteistoiminnan yhteydess\u00e4 puhuessaan opiskelijat p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa reagoivat opettajan ohjeisiin, arvioivat suoritustaan tai tukivat soittoaan sanarytmeill\u00e4. Opiskelijoiden ilmaisu oli usein varsin tarkoituksenmukaista kaikissa yhteistoimintatilanteissa. Ilmaisussaan opiskelijat noudattivat vuorottelun ja samanaikaisuuden odotuksia niin, ettei varsinaista p\u00e4\u00e4llekk\u00e4isilmaisua ilmennyt paljon, soitto ja laulu oli varsin oikea-aikaista ja nauru usein samanaikaista.\r\n\r\nMusiikki tarjoaa puheen ja muun ilmaisun rinnalle erityisopiskelijoiden kommunikaatiomuodoiksi soiton ja laulun, jotka edellytt\u00e4v\u00e4t v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n heille haasteellista sanallisen viestinn\u00e4n tuottamista ja ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4mist\u00e4. The theoretical premises of the study draw on constructivistic and pragmatic approaches to learning and interaction. The pedagogic premise is co-operative learning as a participatory method. Through this framework, the study aims to investigate if the musicality of co-operation increases the participation of the students with special needs.\r\n\r\nThe data collection was gathered through ethnographic method by the researcher participating in a vocational special education school as a teacher. The subjects of the study were 16\u201321-year-old students with special needs. The empirical data corpus consists of 2 h 35 min 21 s videotaped co-operation from individual work, discussion and musical co-operation sessions. Conversation analysis was completed on the transcribed video recordings. Multimodal interaction analysis was used to classify the audible expression to speech, playing, singing and other expression. Robert Bales's group observation method was used to evaluate the expediency of the students' audible expression.\r\n\r\nThe results of the research indicate that the musicality of co-operation clearly increases the participation of students with special needs. Of their attendance time the students were more audible during the musical co-operation sessions than during the discussion sessions. The linguistic asymmetry manifested in discussion as numerous repair sequences, and in division of labour so that the most competent member of the group in conversation skills was the most audible. The expression portions (speech, playing, singing, other expression) divided more symmetrically during the musical co-operation sessions than during the discussion sessions. The students mostly spoke when they responded to teacher's instructions, evaluated their own performance or supported their playing with word rhythms. The expression of the students was often expedient during all the co-operation sessions. In their expression the students followed the rules for turn-taking so that there was little overlapping expression. Playing and singing were quite timely, and laughter often was simultaneous.\r\n\r\nMusic offers playing and singing in addition to speech and other expression as forms of communication for the students with special needs. Playing and singing require less producing and understanding verbal communication, which are challenging to them. During musical co-operation students can establish not only their musical knowledge and skill but also their expression and interaction skills, which they can also utilize during other classroom sessions and social situations in school. In the process they construct their identity through co-operation.
