Korrelaatio ei kuitenkaan ole yksiselitteinen ja pätee ainoastaan rajoitetussa painealueessa. Vetyplasman molekylaarisen emission Lyman-vyön spektrin ja suihkun korrelaation tarkastelusta huomattiin, että elektronisen perustilan vibronisten viritystilojen 10 ja 11 tuoton suhde korkeampien viritystilojen tuottoon on olennainen negatiivisten vetyionien tuoton kannalta. H– -ionien tuotantoprosessissa on useita pullonkauloja, mutta kyseisten viritystilojen tuotto ei vaikuttaisi olevan dominoiva tekijä. Lisäksi tarkastellaan H2-molekyylin elektronisen eksitaation jälkeistä vibronisen tilan elinaikaa. Tämä tehdään vertaamalla kahta oletusta. Ensimmäisen mukaan vibroninen tila ehtii relaksoitua täydellisesti ja toisen mukaan virittynyt tila purkautuu välittömästi, niin etteivät molekyylin ytimet ehdi lainkaan liikkua. Työssä osoitettiin, että täysin relaksoitunut malli vastaa mitattuja spektrejä paljon paremmin kuin välittömän purkautumisen malli. In this study correlation between ultraviolet radiation produced by negative hydrogen ion source plasma and intensity of H– ion beam extracted from it was studied. Correlation between intensities of certain parts of VUV spectrum and ion beam intensity measured by Faraday cup was found. Still, the correlation is not absolute and is valid only with selected ion source pressure. When correlation between Lyman band spectrum of molecular hydrogen plasma and ion beam intensity was studied, it was found that high production of electronic ground state vibronic states 10 and 11, when compared to production of higher vibronic states, play a crucial role in the production of negative hydrogen ions. Production process of H– ions includes multiple bottlenecks and therefore production of these vibronic states probably is not a dominant factor. In addition lifetime of vibronic state of H2 molecule after electronic state excitation was studied. This was done by comparing two assumptions. According to first, the vibronic state has a long time to relax and the second postulates that the excited state decays immediately so the nucleus have no time to move. It was shown that the relaxed model correlates better to acquired experimental results when compared to the immediate decay model.
