Puhdistamaton suola voi my\u00f6s sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 erilaisia haitallisia ainesosia, joten niiden tutkiminen on eritt\u00e4in t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4.\n\nTy\u00f6n kirjallisessa osassa k\u00e4ytiin l\u00e4pi kirjallisuutta ja julkaistuja artikkeleja siit\u00e4, miten suolan\u00e4ytteit\u00e4 on tutkittu, mill\u00e4 analyysimenetelmill\u00e4 on mit\u00e4kin alkuaineita mitattu ja mink\u00e4laisia havaintoja on tehty eri menetelmien haitoista, hy\u00f6dyist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 soveltuvuudesta hyvin suolapitoisten n\u00e4ytteiden tutkimiseen. Mukaan tutkimukseen otettiin my\u00f6s merivesin\u00e4ytteet ja vastaavat suolaiset vesipohjaiset n\u00e4ytteet, koska ruokasuolaa tutkittaessa se yleens\u00e4 liuotetaan veteen.\n\nKokeellisen osan p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n\u00e4 oli mitata kristallisuolan\u00e4ytteit\u00e4 Andeilta ja Himalajalta, sek\u00e4 verrata eri aineiden pitoisuuksia toisiinsa. Vertailun vuoksi mitattiin my\u00f6s muutamia merisuolan\u00e4ytteit\u00e4.
