However, nonlinear phenomena are not understood to the same extent.\n\nI consider a nonlinear coupling between a cavity and a heat bath, and illustrate the\neffects of this coupling such as nonlinear dissipation of the cavity. I also propose\na model, where an optical cavity and a heat bath interact with two-level systems,\njustifying nonlinear dissipation for the optical cavity.\n\nTo give some context to the results of this work, I include introductory reviews of optomechanics, open quantum systems, and two-level systems together with the methods\nused to study these topics.
