Liikuntakasvatuksen laitos, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu \u2013tutkielma. 73 sivua, 7 liitett\u00e4. \r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu-tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 min\u00e4k\u00e4sityksen, koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden, fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja liikuntanumeron keskiarvoja sek\u00e4 niiss\u00e4 ilmenevi\u00e4 sukupuolieroja 7.-9. \u2013 luokkalaisilla. Erojen tarkastelua tehtiin my\u00f6s eri luokkatasolla olevien tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi tarkasteltiin liikuntanumeron yhteytt\u00e4 liikunnan koettuun t\u00e4rkeyteen ja hy\u00f6dyllisyyteen. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin vuonna 2010 ker\u00e4tty\u00e4 Liikunta kansalaistaidoksi -hankkeen aineistoa. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin 5.-9. -luokkalaisilta s\u00e4hk\u00f6isen kyselylomakkeen avulla. T\u00e4h\u00e4n tutkimukseen aineisto rajattiin koskemaan 7.-9. luokkalaisia (n=471). Aineistoa analysoitiin SPSS-ohjelman avulla. Eri ryhmien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 analysoitiin Pearsonin tulomomenttikertoimen avulla ja sukupuolten v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 keskiarvoeroja analysoitiin Studentin T-testill\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi luokkatasojen v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 keskiarvoeroja analysoitiin varianssianalyysilla. \r\nTutkimuksen tulosten perusteella yl\u00e4koululaisten min\u00e4k\u00e4sitys ja koettu fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys olivat kokonaisuudessaan melko my\u00f6nteisi\u00e4. Pojilla min\u00e4k\u00e4sityst\u00e4 kuvaavat arvot olivat 9.-luokkalaisilla korkeampia kuin seitsem\u00e4nnen ja kahdeksannen luokan pojilla. Tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 seitsem\u00e4sluokkalaisten min\u00e4k\u00e4sitys oli parempi kuin kahdeksas - tai yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisilla. Poikien fyysisen aktiivisuuden keskiarvot olivat melko korkeita kaikilla luokka-asteilla kun taas tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 fyysinen aktiivisuus oli yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisilla seitsem\u00e4sluokkalaisten aktiivisuutta alhaisempaa. Min\u00e4k\u00e4sitys, koettu fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys ja fyysinen aktiivisuus korreloivat kesken\u00e4\u00e4n ja niill\u00e4 oli merkitsev\u00e4 yhteys my\u00f6s liikuntanumeroon. Pojilla liikuntanumero korreloi tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 korkeammin fyysisen aktiivisuuden sek\u00e4 koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden kanssa. Liikuntanumeron ja min\u00e4k\u00e4sityksen v\u00e4linen korrelaatiokerroin puolestaan oli l\u00e4hes sama sek\u00e4 tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ett\u00e4 pojilla. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin liikuntanumeron yhteytt\u00e4 liikunnan koettuun t\u00e4rkeyteen ja hy\u00f6dyllisyyteen. Liikuntanumerolla oli positiivinen yhteys sek\u00e4 liikunnan koettuun t\u00e4rkeyteen ett\u00e4 sen koettuun hy\u00f6dyllisyyteen. \r\nTutkimuksen johtopa\u0308a\u0308to\u0308ksena\u0308 voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 saamamme tulokset vahvistavat aikaisempia tutkimustuloksia: liikuntanumero, fyysinen aktiivisuus ja koettu fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys ovat kaikki yhteydess\u00e4 min\u00e4k\u00e4sitykseen. Department of Sport Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master thesis, 73 pages, 7 attachments.\r\nThe aim of this thesis was to find out how physical ability, physical activity, and PE mark are associated with self-esteem and how the connections differ between genders in grade 7 and 9 school students. Also gender differences were examined. The association between PE mark and how an individual perceives the importance and benefits of physical activity was also analyzed. Data collected in the 2010 Liikunta kansalaistaidoksi -project was used for this research. Totally 471 students answered to an electronic questionnaire. The SPSS program was used to analyse the data.\r\nAccording to the results of the research, secondary school students\u2019 self-esteem and physical ability were, as a whole, fairly positive. Within the male group, the grades of self-esteem were highest in the 9th grade. Within the female group, 7th graders\u2019 self-esteem was better than that of 8th or 9th graders\u2019. Physical activity averages, in the males, were fairly high across all grades, whereas in the female group the 7th graders got higher means than 9th graders. Self-esteem, perceived physical competence, and physical activity were all clearly associated to each other and they also correlated with the PE mark. Physical activity and physical ability correlated more with the PE mark in the male group than in the female group. Connection with PE mark and self-esteem was equally high with both males and females. PE mark had a positive association the perceived importance of physical activity.\r\nIn conclusion, one can say that the results of this study support previous studies on the subject; PE mark, physical activity and perceived physical competence are all associated to self-perception. In addition, the students who enjoyed themselves in PE lessons, and the students who got good marks, perceived that physical activity is important and beneficial.
