Viime vuosien aikana ihmisten kiinnostus urheilusuoritustensa mittaamiseen on kasvanut. Teknologian kehittymisen my\u00f6t\u00e4 markkinoille onkin alkanut ilmesty\u00e4 erilaisia laitteita ja sovelluksia liikunnan harrastajille oman kuntonsa seuraamiseen sek\u00e4 sen kehitt\u00e4misen tueksi. Yksi t\u00e4llainen inertiaaliantureihin perustuva tuoteinnovaatio keskittyy juoksuaskeleen kinematiikan mittaamiseen. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, voidaanko inertiaaliantureilla mitattujen kinemaattisten muuttujien avulla ennustaa juoksun energiankulutusta. Tutkimuksessa oli 16 koehenkil\u00f6\u00e4 (5 naista ja 11 miest\u00e4), jotka kaikki kuuluivat samaan maratonkouluun. Mittaukset suoritettiin juoksumatolla VO2max-testin yhteydess\u00e4, jossa energiankulutusta mitattiin hengityskaasuanalysaattorin avulla. Tilastollisesti kinemaattisten muuttujien ja suhteellisen sek\u00e4 kokonaisenergiankulutuksen v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 suhteita eri juoksunopeuksilla tutkittiin korrelaatiokertoimien ja lineaarisen regressioanalyysin avulla. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin graafisesti inertiaaliantureilla mitattujen kinemaattisten muuttujien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4 eri juoksunopeuksilla ja verrattiin n\u00e4it\u00e4 tuloksia aiempien tutkimusten tuloksiin.\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa juoksun kinemaattisten muuttujien ja energiankulutuksen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei havaittu merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4. Kinemaattisten muuttujien ja energiankulutuksen v\u00e4liset korrelaatiokertoimet eiv\u00e4t olleet tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4, ja niiden arvot vaihtelivat positiivisten ja negatiivisten arvojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 eri juoksunopeuksilla. Tulosten perusteella ei voida tehd\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4telmi\u00e4 siit\u00e4, miten tietyn kinemaattisen muuttujan arvon muuttuminen vaikuttaa energiankulutukseen. Vain askeltiheyden ja kokonaisenergiankulutuksen v\u00e4linen korrelaatiokerroin oli kaikilla nopeuksilla negatiivinen. Lineaarisella regressioanalyysill\u00e4 ei l\u00f6ytynyt yht\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4n tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4\u00e4 tulosta, jossa jollakin taustamuuttujien ja kinemaattisten muuttujien yhdistelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 voitaisiin selitt\u00e4\u00e4 juoksun energiankulutusta. N\u00e4m\u00e4 tulokset viittaavat siihen, ett\u00e4 luotettavan mallin l\u00f6yt\u00e4minen energiankulutuksen ennustamiseen kinemaattisten muuttujien avulla on haastavaa. Luotettavien tulosten saamiseksi koehenkil\u00f6joukko oli kuitenkin liian pieni ja juoksutaustansa puolesta hyvin homogeeninen. Kinemaattisten muuttujien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4 eri juoksunopeuksilla verrattiin aiempien tutkimusten tuloksiin. Vertailun perusteella voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa n\u00e4iden muuttujien arvojen muutokset olivat hyvin samankaltaisia kuin muissa juoksumatolla tai tasaisella alustalla tehdyiss\u00e4 juoksututkimuksissa. In recent years, people's interest in the measurement of their athletic performance has increased. Technological advances have made it possible that consumer devices and applications have appeared for fitness enthusiasts to monitor their own condition, and to support its development. One such product innovation, based on inertial sensors, focuses on the measurement of running stride kinematics. The purpose of this study was to determine if it is possible to predict the energy expenditure of running with the kinematic variables. The study had 16 subjects (5 female and 11 male), who all belonged to the same marathon school. The measurements were carried out on a treadmill during the VO2max test. The energy expediture was measured by a respiratory gas analyzer. The relationships between the kinematic variables and energy expenditure were examined statistically using correlation coefficients and linear regression analysis. In addition, the study examined graphically the changes of kinematic variables, measured by inertial sensors, between different running speeds and compared the results with those of previous studies.\nNo remarkable relationships between the kinematic variables and the energy expenditure were found in these study. The correlation coefficients between the kinematic variables and energy expenditure were not statistically significant, and their values ranged between positive and negative values between different running speeds. Based on the results, it can not be concluded how a change in the value of a kinematic variable affects the energy expenditure. Only the correlation coefficient between the stride rate and the total energy expenditure was negative at all speeds. Linear regression analysis did not find any statistically significant results with any combination of the background variables and kinematic variables, which could explain the energy expenditure of running. These results suggest that finding a reliable model for predicting the energy expenditure using kinematic variables is difficult. Moreover, the number of subjects in this study was too small and their running background was very homogeneous in order to obtain reliable results. Changes in the values of the kinematic variables between different running speeds were compared with the results of previous studies. Based on the comparison, it can be concluded that in this study the changes in the values of these variables were very similar to the results of other studies on the treadmill or overground running.
