Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma, 72 s., 2 liitett\u00e4. \n\nLiikunnanopettajilla on lasten huoltajien ohella t\u00e4rke\u00e4 merkitys lapsen kasvun ja kehityksen edist\u00e4misess\u00e4 sek\u00e4 itsetunnon vahvistamisessa. Itsetunto vaikuttaa jokaiseen ihmiseen kaikilla el\u00e4m\u00e4n osa-alueilla. Vaikka koulussa opitut tiedot ja taidot unohtuisivat kehityksen my\u00f6t\u00e4, itsetunto pysyy mukanamme l\u00e4pi el\u00e4m\u00e4n. Sen vuoksi ei ole yhdentekev\u00e4\u00e4, miten liikunnanopettajat oppilaitaan kasvattavat, ja miten he tukevat oppilaiden itsetunnon rakentumista. T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten liikunnanopettaja voi omasta mielest\u00e4\u00e4n vaikuttaa oppilaan itsetuntoon positiivisesti. Lis\u00e4ksi t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkielman avulla pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n antamaan liikunnanopettajille v\u00e4lineit\u00e4, joiden avulla he voivat tunnistaa vahvan tai heikon itsetunnon. \n\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisilla tutkimusmenetelmill\u00e4 ja sen tieteenfilosofisena l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtana oli fenomenografinen tutkimusstrategia. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastattelulla tammi-helmikuussa 2016. Tutkimusta varten haastateltiin nelj\u00e4\u00e4 Keski-Suomessa ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4\u00e4 liikunnanopettajaa, jotka olivat olleet ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 10\u201335 ty\u00f6vuotta. Haastatelluista kaikki ty\u00f6skenteliv\u00e4t eri kouluasteilla, yksi alakoulussa, toinen yl\u00e4koulussa, kolmas sek\u00e4 yl\u00e4koulussa ett\u00e4 lukiossa ja nelj\u00e4s lukiossa. Haastateltavista kolme oli naisia ja yksi oli mies. Haastattelut toteutettiin jokaisen opettajan kanssa henkil\u00f6kohtaisesti ja ne kestiv\u00e4t 40\u201360 minuuttia. Litteroitua teksti\u00e4 niist\u00e4 kertyi 56 sivua. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isell\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysill\u00e4. \n\nTutkimuksen avulla selvisi, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4rkeimm\u00e4t itsetunnon vahvistamisen keinot liikunnanope-tuksessa ovat: eriytt\u00e4minen, teht\u00e4v\u00e4suuntautunut motivaatioilmasto, p\u00e4tevyyden kokemusten tuottaminen, positiivinen ja yksil\u00f6llinen palaute, yhteenkuuluvuuden ja autonomian vahvistaminen sek\u00e4 psyykkisesti turvallisen oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n rakentaminen. Jotta liikunnanopettaja tiet\u00e4\u00e4, kenen itsetuntoon h\u00e4nen kannattaisi kaikkein eniten keskitty\u00e4, tulee h\u00e4nell\u00e4 olla v\u00e4li-neit\u00e4 tunnistaa oppilaan itsetunnontaso. Tutkimuksen avulla selvisikin, ett\u00e4 liikunnanopettaja voi tunnistaa vahvan itsetunnon seuraavista asioista: oppilas luottaa omaan edistymiseen ja osaamiseen, oppilas sallii itselleen ep\u00e4onnistumisia, h\u00e4n tunnistaa omat vahvuutensa ja heikkoutensa, ja pystyy hyv\u00e4ksym\u00e4\u00e4n ne, lis\u00e4ksi oppilaan vuorovaikutus muiden oppilaiden kanssa on positiivista. Toisaalta heikon itsetunnon voi t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen mukaan havaita seuraavista asioista: muiden alistaminen ja opetuksen h\u00e4iritseminen, vet\u00e4ytyminen opetustilanteissa, paineensietoa vaativat tilanteet ovat oppilaalle hankalia ja oppilas on v\u00e4h\u00e4isess\u00e4 vuorovaikutuksessa muiden oppilaiden kanssa. \n\nTutkimus on ajankohtainen sen vuoksi, ett\u00e4 2016 voimaanastuvassa perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelmassa itsetunnon rooli kasvaa aikaisempiin opetussuunnitelmiin verrattuna. T\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus antaa liikunnanopettajille lis\u00e4\u00e4 tietoa itsetuntoon vaikuttamisesta. Master\u2019s thesis in sports pedagogy, 72 p., 2 attachments. \n\nPhysical educators along with the legal guardians, play a significant role in the upbringing and development of a child as well as the strengthening of its self-esteem. Self-esteem has a major effect on our lives. We may forget the knowledge and skills we learned in school but self-esteem is ever present. For this reason, it is not indifferent how physical educators strengthen their pupils\u2019 self-esteem. In this Master\u2019s thesis the aim was to research, how physical educators can have a positive impact on a pupils\u2019 self-esteem. Furthermore, the aspiration for this thesis is to give physical educators the necessary tools on how to identify an individual with either a strong or weak self-esteem.\n\nThe research was carried out in a qualitative method where a phenomenographical research strategy was used as its scientific philosophic basis. The research material was conducted by themed interviews in January and February of 2016. The interviewees were four physical educators from Middle-Finland with 10\u201335 years of work experience. All were working in different educational tiers, one in primary school, the second in junior high school, the third in both junior and high school and the fourth solely in high school. Of the four interviewees 3 were female and one was male. The interviews were conducted personally with each interviewee and lasted from 40 to 60 minutes. The transcription of these interviews covers 56 pages. The research material was analysed in a material driven content analysis. \n\nThe research points out the key means on how to strengthen self-esteem in physical education and they are as follows: ability grouping, mastery-oriented motivational climate, producing experiences of competence, positive and individual feedback, a sense of belonging while strengthening autonomy and constructing a mentally safe learning atmosphere. In order to detect, which pupils\u2019 self-esteem needs the most attention, a physical educator needs to posses the necessary tools to detect a pupils\u2019 level of self-esteem. As a result of the research, a physical educator is able to recognize a strong self-esteem from the following: a pupil is confident of ones\u2019 strides and skills, the pupil allows themselves failures and mistakes, the pupil knows his or her strengths and weaknesses and is accepting of them and the pupils\u2019 interaction with other pupils is positive. On the other hand, a weak self-esteem, according to this research, can be identified by: the pupil trying to subjugate their fellow pupils and disturbing the teaching, withdrawal from teaching situations, situations where pressure tolerance is needed are challenging for the pupil and the pupils\u2019 interaction with fellow pupils is limited.\n\nThe research is topical because of the enactment of the basic education curriculum in 2016 where self-esteem is getting a significantly increased role in comparison to previous curriculums. This research gives physical educators further information on how to have an influence on self-esteem.
