T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen perehdyt\u00e4\u00e4n viraalivideon k\u00e4sitteeseen, viraalivideoiden hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4miseen viraalimarkkinoinnissa, viraalivideoihin liittyviin yleisiin ominaisuuksiin sek\u00e4 tekij\u00f6ihin, jotka lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isyytt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 jokin video l\u00e4htee\r\nlevi\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n Internetiss\u00e4 viraalisti. Tutkielmassa annetaan yritysten n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta oleellista tietoa viraalimarkkinoinnista ja viraalivideoista. Tutkimuskysymys\r\non, miten viraalivideoita voidaan tehokkaasti hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 yritysten markkinoinnissa. Tutkielmassa havaittiin useita viraalimarkkinointiin ja viraalivideoihin\r\nliittyvi\u00e4 ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4, joiden ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4misest\u00e4 on hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 kyseisten aihealueiden parissa ty\u00f6skenteleville. Viraalimarkkinointi on parhaimmillaan kustannustehokas markkinoinnin keino, jonka suurimpia vahvuuksia ovat markkinointitiedon\r\nnopea levi\u00e4minen, ihmisten luottamus tuttaviltaan saamaan markkinointitietoon sek\u00e4 markkinointitiedon levi\u00e4minen useisiin eri ihmisryhmiin sosiaalisten\r\nyhteyksien kautta. Viraalimarkkinoinnin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n liittyy aihetta k\u00e4sittelevien\r\ntutkimusten mukaan kuitenkin my\u00f6s riskej\u00e4, joita ovat kontrollin puute markkinointitietoa levitt\u00e4vist\u00e4 kuluttajista, mahdolliset negatiiviset lieveilmi\u00f6t, riippuvaisuus kuluttajista sek\u00e4 mahdolliset juridiset ja eettiset ongelmat. Tutkielmassa my\u00f6s havaittiin useita viraalivideoille tyypillisi\u00e4 ominaisuuksia liittyen\r\nmuun muassa niiden suosion pysyvyyteen, sek\u00e4 lukuisia videoiden viraaliuteen vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Firstly, the concept of viral marketing is introduced, with insight on what benefits viral marketing holds compared to traditional marketing, and also what risks are connected to it. In the next section, the concept of viral videos is addressed. Main\r\npoints of the section is to provide information about what viral videos are, what\r\ngeneral properties they have and what increases the chance for a video to start\r\nspreading virally on the Internet. In this thesis insight is provided about viral\r\nvideos and how to use them effectively as a tool in marketing. The aim is to answer what viral videos are, what viral marketing is, how viral videos can be\r\nused effectively in marketing and what aspects should be considered when using them. The main findings of this thesis are several phenomena regarding\r\nviral marketing and viral videos. Understanding these phenomena can be useful especially for those who work with either viral marketing or viral videos.\r\nViral marketing is potentially a very cost-efficient way of marketing, and its\r\nbiggest strengths are fast spread of information, peoples\u2019 trust in marketing information they receive from their acquaintances and potentially spreading the\r\nmarketing information to many different groups of people through social connections. There are also several risks related to viral marketing, which are lack\r\nof control from consumers, possible negative side effects, dependency on consumers and possible juridical and ethical problems. This thesis also provides\r\ninformation about typical properties of viral videos, including findings about\r\nthe persistence of their popularity and what affects the virality of a video.
