Yl\u00e4koululaisista vain noin 20 % t\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 fyysisen aktiivisuuden v\u00e4himm\u00e4issuosituksen (v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n 60 min p\u00e4iv\u00e4ss\u00e4). Erityisesti alakoulusta yl\u00e4kouluun siirrytt\u00e4ess\u00e4 nuorten fyysinen aktiivisuus laskee merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti. My\u00f6s itse arvioidun terveyden on havaittu olevan alhaisempi verrattaessa yl\u00e4koululaisia alakoululaisiin. Itse arvioitu terveys on paljon k\u00e4ytetty terveysmittari, joka on yhteydess\u00e4 yleiseen hyvinvointiin ja sairastavuuteen. T\u00e4m\u00e4n opinn\u00e4ytety\u00f6n tarkoituksena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, onko fyysinen aktiivisuus yhteydess\u00e4 itse arvioituun terveyteen yl\u00e4koululaisilla.\n\nTutkimusaineisto ja menetelm\u00e4t\n\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 opinn\u00e4ytety\u00f6ss\u00e4 k\u00e4ytetty aineisto on Nuorten Akatemia-j\u00e4rjest\u00f6n toimesta syyskuussa 2015 Helsingin alueella ker\u00e4tty kyselytutkimusaineisto. Kyselytutkimukseen osallistui 260 yl\u00e4koululaista viidest\u00e4 eri yl\u00e4koulusta Uudenmaan alueella. Kyselytutkimuksessa selvitettiin yl\u00e4koululaisten fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta, ravitsemus- ja unitottumuksia. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 opinn\u00e4ytety\u00f6ss\u00e4 selvitettiin fyysisen kokonaisaktiivisuuden, vapaa-ajan kohtuukuormitteisen fyysisen aktiivisuuden, koulumatka- ja v\u00e4lituntiaktiivisuuden yhteyksi\u00e4 yl\u00e4koululaisten itse arvioituun terveyteen. Menetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin Khiin neli\u00f6testi\u00e4 ja multinomiaalista regressioanalyysia, jotka toteutettiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 \u2013 ohjelmaa. \n\nTulokset\n\nFyysinen kokonaisaktiivisuus ja vapaa-ajan kohtuukuormitteinen fyysinen aktiivisuus olivat tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti (p<0,050) yhteydess\u00e4 itse arvioituun terveyteen tutkittavilla yl\u00e4koululaisilla. Fyysisen kokonaisaktiivisuuden osalta tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 eroja itse arvioidussa terveydess\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyi, kun verrattiin viikon aikana v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n viisi kertaa v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n tunnin liikkuvia yl\u00e4koululaisia v\u00e4hiten aktiivisiin yl\u00e4koululaisiin (p<0,050). Vapaa-ajan kohtuukuormitteisen fyysisen aktiivisuuden osalta tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 eroja itse arvioidussa terveydess\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyi verrattaessa viikon aikana v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n kaksi tuntia vapaa-ajan aktiivisuutta toteuttavia yl\u00e4koululaisia v\u00e4hiten aktiivisiin (p<0,050). Only about 20 % of secondary school pupils fill the physical activity recommendations (at least 60 min daily). Especially when moving from primary school into secondary school, physical activity of young person tends to decrease significantly. Also self-rated health has been lower among secondary school pupils compared with primary school pupils. Self-rated health is a commonly used health marker which is associated with general well-being and morbidity. The purpose of this master\u2019s thesis is to find out if physical activity is associated with self-rated health among secondary school pupils. \n\nMethods\n\nIn this master\u2019s thesis, the research material was a survey carried out in September 2015 by the organization named Nuorten Akatemia. As participants of the survey were 260 secondary school pupils from five secondary schools located in the area of Uusimaa Finland. In this master\u2019s thesis, the aim was to investigate if there is an association between the total physical activity, the leisure time physical activity, meeting the recommendations of physical activity, the commuting physical activity, the physical activity during lesson breaks and self-rated health among secondary school pupils. As statistic methods, Chi-Squared test and multinomial regression analysis were used and tests were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 software. \n\nResults\n\nThe total physical activity and the leisure time physical activity were associated with self-rated health among the secondary school pupils (p < 0,050). The pupils who were physically active at least five times per week, at least one hour each time, were more likely to report their health good or excellent compared with the least active pupils. The pupils who were active at least two hours per week during their leisure time reported their health more likely good or excellent compared with the least active pupils. Meeting the recommendations of physical activity, the commuting physical activity and the physical activity during lesson breaks were not associated with self-rated health among secondary school pupils. \n\nConclusion\n\nBased on the results, physical activity seems to be associated with self-rated health among secondary school pupils.
