Over thirty years later the term has be come more relevant than ever, because of the significance of Internet. Memes and memetics have also been applied to marketing, and the topic is especially essential in viral market. Studying of memes and the use of memetic theories can ease the understandi ng of viral marketing phenomenons. \u2018Viral effect\u2019 is a concept that viral marketing strives to achieve, and its meaning derives from the virus -like spread of content, which is significantly connected to the spreading of memes. Reasons for the spreading of successful Internet-memes can be explained by examining the attributes of memes, the motivational factors of Internet-users and the environment in which the meme is spread. In the case of viral marketing, this environment is social media.
