Tieteellisestä keskustelusta keskeisimmiksi teknologioiksi 5G-verkkoihin nousevat muun muassa laitteistotekniikan kehittyminen, millimetriaallot, kognitiivinen radioverkko, massiivinen MIMO ja heterogeeninen verkko. Tarvitaan kuitenkin lisää tutkimusta ja kehitystyötä, jotta uusista 5G-verkoista saadaan riittävän energiatehokkaita. The amount of mobile data will grow radically and that's why we need new 5G technology to increase capacity of wireless networks. When we develop 5G networks, the important research question is how to make them energy efficient. In this study we go through scientific studies about this topic. We find out that key technologies of 5G networks are hardware solutions, millimeter waves, cognitive radio network, massive MIMO and heterogeneous network. We still need more studies and development work to make new 5G technologies energy efficient enough.
