Lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymissysteemi vaikuttaa my\u00f6s\r\nyksil\u00f6iden resurssiallokointitapaan sek\u00e4 siihen miten ja miss\u00e4 suhteessa gynodieekkisten\r\npopulaatioiden yksil\u00f6t osallistuvat geenien siirt\u00e4miseen j\u00e4lkel\u00e4isilleen. Emikasvit\r\nosallistuvat j\u00e4lkel\u00e4istuotantoon siemenaiheita tuottamalla ja kaksineuvoiset kasvit\r\nsiemenaiheita sek\u00e4 siitep\u00f6ly\u00e4 tuottamalla. Edell\u00e4 mainitut sukupuolisidonnaisten erojen\r\nvaikutukset voivat heijastua my\u00f6s yksil\u00f6iden resistenssiin. Esimerkiksi enemm\u00e4n\r\nlis\u00e4\u00e4ntymiseen panostava sukupuoli saattaa olla alttiimpi patogeeneille, sill\u00e4 on\r\nmahdollista ettei kasvi kykene allokoimaan resursseja lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymisen ohella samanaikaisesti\r\nresistenssin yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen. Mik\u00e4li gynodieekkisen populaation emikasvien ja\r\nkaksineuvoisten kasvien kyvyss\u00e4 yll\u00e4pit\u00e4\u00e4 resistenssi\u00e4 on sukupuolisidonnaisista\r\nominaisuuksista johtuvia eroja, voi t\u00e4m\u00e4 edelleen vaikuttaa kuolleisuuden tai heikentyneen\r\nj\u00e4lkel\u00e4istuotannon kautta kasvipopulaation geneettiseen rakenteeseen ja populaation\r\nsukupuolijakaumaan. Seuraukset voivat heijastua takaisin lajin lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymissysteemin\r\nevoluutioon sek\u00e4 vaikuttaa kasvin ja muun ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n v\u00e4lisiin ekologisiin\r\nvuorovaikutussuhteisiin. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 tutkittiin kasvihuonekokeen avulla sit\u00e4, vaihteleeko\r\ngynodieekin mets\u00e4kurjenpolven (Gerianium sylvaticum) patogeeniresistenssi yksil\u00f6n\r\nsukupuolen mukaan eli eroaako emikasvien, v\u00e4limuotojen tai kaksineuvoisten kasvien\r\nalttius kurjenpolvenh\u00e4rm\u00e4lle (Podosphaera fugax). Tutkimuksessa havaittiin, ett\u00e4\r\nv\u00e4limuotojen ja kaksineuvoisten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 oli kokoeroja, jotka eiv\u00e4t kuitenkaan vaikuttaneet\r\nsukupuolten h\u00e4rm\u00e4infektionlaajuuteen. Kvalitatiivisessa tai kvantitatiivisessa resistenssiss\u00e4\r\nei havaittu sukupuolisidonnaisia eroja. Between these two genders there are genetic, morphological\r\nand physiological differences that may influence plant's resource allocation patterns and\r\nhow and to what extent each morph contributes to the production of offspring. In a\r\ngynodioecious population females allocate resources to ovule production whereas\r\nhermaphrodites allocate resources to both ovule and pollen production. Since resources are\r\nlimited, these differences in resource allocation patterns may influence other life cycle\r\ntraits through trade-offs. In case of infection, gender morph that allocates more of its\r\nresources to reproduction, that is, to the production of certain kinds of flowers, may not be\r\nable to allocate enough resources to resistance. If females and hermaphrodites differ in\r\ntheir resource allocation patterns and it affects their resistance in different ways this may\r\neventually lead to changes in population's genetic structure and its sex ratio through\r\nincreased mortality or decreased production of offspring. These changes may eventually\r\ninfluence the evolution of plant breeding system and ecological interactions between plants\r\nand their environment. In this study greenhouse experiment was set up to study whether\r\nfemales, intermediates or hermaphrodites of gynodioecious Geranium sylvaticum differ in\r\ntheir susceptibility to fungal pathogen, Podosphaera fugax. The results showed that gender\r\nmorphs have size differences that did not, however, have an effect on the extent of plant\r\ninfection. Qualitative resistance did not differ significantly between genders and neither\r\ndid quantitative resistance of leaves and reproductive organs.
