Pyrkimyksen\u00e4 oli ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4,\r\nmiten opettajat kokemustensa pohjalta m\u00e4\u00e4rittelev\u00e4t lasten sosiaaliset taidot ja\r\nniiden arvioinnin. Tavoitteena oli lis\u00e4t\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 sosiaalisten taitojen\r\nt\u00e4rkeydest\u00e4 perusopetuksessa.\r\n\r\nTutkimus oli laadullinen, fenomenologinen tutkimus. Tutkimusaineisto\r\nker\u00e4ttiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en s\u00e4hk\u00f6ist\u00e4 kyselylomaketta, joka sis\u00e4lsi avoimia kysymyksi\u00e4.\r\nTutkimukseen osallistui 30 alkuopetuksessa toimivaa luokanopettajaa tai\r\nerityisopettajaa. Harkinnanvarainen otoksen kriteerin\u00e4 oli opettajan\r\nomakohtainen kokemus lapsen sosiaalisista taidoista ja niiden arvioinnista.\r\nTutkimusaineisto analysoitiin aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isell\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysimenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4.\r\n\r\nTutkimustulosten mukaan opettajat kuvasivat lapsen sosiaalisia taitoja\r\nempatian ja ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 toimimisen taitojen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmista. Empatia n\u00e4htiin\r\nkykyn\u00e4 asettua toisen ihmisen asemaan ja ottaa toiset ihmiset huomioon.\r\nRyhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 toimimisen taidot jakaantuivat vuorovaikutukseen ja yksil\u00f6\u00f6n\r\nliittyviin tekij\u00f6ihin. We attempt to shed\r\nlight on the importance of social skills in education.\r\n\r\nThe data for this qualitative, phenomenological study was collected using an\r\nelectronic questionnaire which consisted of open-ended questions. The 30\r\nrespondents were teachers and special teachers working in early education.\r\nThere was a discretionary criterion in the selection of the participants \u2013 the\r\nrespondents had had personal experience in assessing children\u2019s social skills.\r\nThe method used to analyse the data was qualitative content analysis.\r\n\r\nThe study reveals that the teachers based their definition of children\u2019s social\r\nskills on both empathy and the ability to work as part of a group. Empathy was\r\nseen as the ability to put oneself in someone else\u2019s position and to take others\r\ninto consideration. Skills needed in group work were considered twofold:\r\ncommunication and the factors related to the individual. The teachers described\r\nthe assessment of children\u2019s social skills from three points of view \u2013 contextbound\r\nassessment, tools used for the assessment and the dimensions of the\r\ncooperation in the process of the assessment.\r\n\r\nThe teachers\u2019 descriptions portrayed both practical activity as well as processes\r\nrequiring thinking and managing of emotions.
