Nuorten kunto on heikentynyt ja elintapoihin liittyvien sairauksien m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\nkasvanut. Tutkimukset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 lapsena ja nuorena fyysisesti aktiivisesti el\u00e4nyt\nihminen on todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isesti aikuisenakin aktiivinen. N\u00e4iden seikkojen perusteella on\nt\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 nuorten liikuntaan liittyv\u00e4\u00e4 terveysosaamista kehitet\u00e4\u00e4n peruskoulun\nj\u00e4lkeenkin toisen asteen koulutuksessa.\nTutkimuksen tarkoitus oli tarkastella liikuntaan liittyv\u00e4n terveysosaaminen kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4\nlukion terveystiedossa. Tutkimusaineisto koostui kuuden oppikirjasarjan pakollisen\nTerveyden perusteet TE1 -kurssin ja syvent\u00e4v\u00e4n Nuoret, terveys ja arkiel\u00e4m\u00e4 TE2 -\nkurssin oppikirjoista. Niiden sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4 vertailtiin terveystiedon ja liikunnan opetukselle\nvaltakunnallisissa opetussuunnitelman perusteissa asetettuihin tavoitteisiin. Tutkimuksen\nl\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtana toimi liikunta\u2013kunto-terveys-viitekehys (Bouchard & Shephard 1994). Sen\nmukaan liikunnan, kunnon ja terveyden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 vallitsee vuorovaikutteisia yhteyksi\u00e4, ja\nniit\u00e4 s\u00e4\u00e4telev\u00e4t perim\u00e4, elintavat ja yksil\u00f6lliset ominaisuudet sek\u00e4 sosiaaliset tekij\u00e4t ja\nymp\u00e4rist\u00f6tekij\u00e4t. Tutkimus oli laadullinen tutkimus, jossa oppikirjat analysoitiin\nsis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin menetelmill\u00e4. Analyysi oli teoriasidonnaista edeten aluksi\naineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isesti ja muuttuen lopussa teorial\u00e4ht\u00f6iseksi.\nTutkimustulosten mukaan oppikirjojen liikuntaan liittyv\u00e4t sis\u00e4ll\u00f6t ovat pitk\u00e4lti\nsamanlaisia. Kaikissa kirjasarjoissa k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n liikunnan vaikutuksia terveyteen.\nKirjoissa painottuu liikunnan vaikutukset fyysiseen terveyteen psyykkisen ja sosiaalisen\nterveyden k\u00e4sittelyn kustannuksella. Liikunnan vaikutuksia aivotoimintaan k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n\nkolmessa kirjasarjassa kuudesta. Kirjoissa k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n kuntoa p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti\nyksityiskohtaisesti urheiluvalmennuksen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Liikuntaohjelma laaditaan\nsuurimmassa osassa kirjasarjoista, mutta vain osassa sen l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtana ovat oppilaan arki\nja omat tarpeet. Nuoren kokemusmaailman v\u00e4h\u00e4inen hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4minen leimaa kirjojen\nsis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4. Sis\u00e4lt\u00f6jen jaotteluissa pakollisen kurssin kirjan ja syvent\u00e4v\u00e4n kurssin kirjan\nv\u00e4lill\u00e4 on eroja kirjasarjojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Therefore playing sports is part of the\nway of life that improves health. Finnish children are having poorer condition and the amount\nof lifestyle-based diseases is growing. The research results indicate that a person who was\nliving physically actively as a child and young is likely to live physically actively as an adult\ntoo. Because of these facts, teaching the knowledge and skills in sports is important even\nafter basic education in both general upper secondary school and vocational upper secondary\nschool.\nThe purpose of this study was to review the teaching of sports related health literacy in the\nhealth education in general upper secondary school. The material of the research consisted\nof text books in the compulsory course Foundation of health TE1 and specialisation course\nYoung people, health and everyday life TE2 from six different series of books. The content\nof those books was compared to goals written in the National Core Curriculum in health\neducation and physical education. The starting point for the study was sports-conditionhealth-\nframework (Bouchard & Shephard 1994). According to it there are interactive\nconnections between sports, condition and health and they are regulated by heredity, lifestyle\nand individual characteristics as well as social factors and environmental factors.\nMethodologically, the research can be defined as a qualitative study where the study books\nwere analysed with methods to analyse the content. The analysing process was theory\nbonded. In the beginning the material drove the analysing process and then theory drove in\nthe end.\nAccording the results there are no significant differences between the study books. The\neffects exercise has on health are presented in every series of books. The focus is on\nphysical health at mental health\u2019s and social health\u2019s expense. The effects exercise has on\nbrain activity are presented in three series of six. The physical condition is mainly\napproached from coaching point of view and described very detailed. The exercise\nprogramme is planned in almost every series but young people\u2019s everyday life and needs\nare taking into account in only few series. The lack of exploiting the young people\u2019s\nexperiences is characterizing text books.
