Biomekaniikan Pro gradu -tutkielma 64 s.\r\nKorkeaintensiteettinen intervalli-harjoittelu (HIIT) on yleinen harjoittelumuoto, jolla voidaan saada aikaan vasteita aineenvaihdunnallisesti sek\u00e4 hermo-lihasj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4ss\u00e4. Harjoittelumuotoa voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 muun harjoittelun lis\u00e4n\u00e4 ja siten saada aikaiseksi vasteita lyhyemmill\u00e4 harjoitteluajoilla, kuin perinteisess\u00e4 harjoitteissa. Kompressiolla on puolestaan todettu olevan vaikutuksia per\u00e4tt\u00e4isten r\u00e4j\u00e4ht\u00e4vien suoritusten keskitehon kasvussa ja palautumisessa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 lyhytkestoisen HIIT-harjoittelun ja kompressiovaatteiden yhdistelm\u00e4n vaikutukset suorituskykyyn sek\u00e4 hermo-lihasj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n vasteisiin. HIIT-harjoittelulla tarkoitetaan t\u00e4ss\u00e4 ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 30 s suoritteita 4 minuutin palautumisjaksolla t\u00e4ydell\u00e4 teholla yl\u00e4m\u00e4keen, jonka keskikaltevuus oli 9.5 % suorituksen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n ollessa 6 per harjoituskerta. Harjoituskertoja oli 2 kertaa viikossa 2 \u00bd viikon ajan.\r\nKahdeksantoista naisj\u00e4\u00e4kiekkoilijaa ilmoittautui vapaaehtoisiksi tutkimukseen, joista nelj\u00e4toista osallistui kaikkiin mittauksiin ja harjoituksiin. Osallistujat jaettiin kahteen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n kompressio (COMP; pituus 165 \u00b1 6 cm, paino 68 \u00b1 12 kg, ik\u00e4 22 \u00b1 4, N = 6), joka k\u00e4ytti kompressiovaatteita harjoittelun aikana sek\u00e4 kontrolli (CON; pituus 166 \u00b1 5 cm, paino 66 \u00b1 13 kg, ik\u00e4 22 \u00b1 3, N = 8), joka ei saanut k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 mink\u00e4\u00e4nlaisia kompressiovaatteita tutkimuksen aikana. Koehenkil\u00f6ilt\u00e4 mitattiin r\u00e4j\u00e4ht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n voimantuottoon ja suorituskykyyn vaikuttavia hermo-lihasj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n vasteita ennen ja j\u00e4lkeen harjoitusjakson. Voimantuotonnopeuteen ja maksimaaliseen voimantuottoon vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 tutkittiin selk\u00e4ydintason vasteiden (H-refleksi) sek\u00e4 keskushermostovasteiden (V-aalto) avulla. Koehenkil\u00f6it\u00e4 mitattiin my\u00f6s lihasaktiivisuus laboratoriossa tehtyjen mittauksien aikana, jolla pystyttiin m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n harjoituksen aiheuttamat lihasten aktiivisuuden muutokset. Laboratoriomittauksien lis\u00e4ksi koehenkil\u00f6t suorittivat luistelutestin, jossa mitattiin luistelukiihdytys ja -nopeus. \r\nMolempien ryhmien plantaari fleksion isometrinen MVC (COMP: pre 1051 \u00b1 166 N, post 1213 \u00b1 92 N, p = 0.028;CON: pre 1197 \u00b1 300 N, post 1305 \u00b1 257 N, p = 0.025) ja RFD (COMP: pre 4321 \u00b1 1216 N\u2219s-1, post 4998 \u00b1 1247 N\u2219s-1, p = 0.028; CON: pre 4613 \u00b1 2136 N\u2219s-1, post 5301 \u00b1 2046 N\u2219s-1, p = 0.012) kasvoivat huomattavasti. Harjoittelu vaikutti keskushermostotason (normalisoitu V-aalto) vasteisiin yhdistetyll\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4ll\u00e4 (pre 0.27 \u00b1 0.11, post 0.31 \u00b1 0.12, \u0394 16.0%, p = 0.009) sek\u00e4 vastavaikuttajan aktiivisuuteen RFD:n aikana (pre 0.51 \u00b1 0.23, post 0.41 \u00b1 0.18, \u0394 -18.9%, p = 0.028). Ryhmien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei havaittu tilastollisesti merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 eroja. HIIT \u2013harjoittelulla saadaan parannettua r\u00e4j\u00e4ht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 sek\u00e4 maksimaalista voimantuottoa koaktivaation v\u00e4henemisell\u00e4 sek\u00e4 motorisen ohjauksen kasvulla. Department of Biology of Sport, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s thesis, 64 pp.\r\nHigh-intensity interval training (HIIT) improves performance in various ways more promptly than a more traditional training (Tschakert & Hofmann 2013). Although metabolic responses and performance improvements are more commonly reported in HIIT, neuromuscular adaptations occur as well (Buchheit & Laursen 2013b;Creer et al. 2003;Jemma et al. 2005). Compression garments have been shown to improve explosive performances like vertical jumps height (Doan et al. 2003), vertical jumps mean power (Kraemer et al. 1996) and repeated sprint performance (Hamlin et al. 2012;Born et al. 2014). It has been suggested that improved proprioception might be one of the mechanisms, which improves performance due the compressive garments (Kraemer et al. 1996). HIIT in this study is referred as 30 second all-out sprints on a hill with a gradient of 9.5%. Six sprints in total were made in a session and four-minute rest periods were held between sprints.\r\nThe aim of this study was to investigate neuromuscular adaptations to HIIT and use of compression garments during training. The goal was to clarify if compression garments can be used to further enhance improvements in ice-hockey-specific test, and whether neuromuscular adaptations (enhanced neural drive and \u03b1-motoneuron excitability) can explain the improved performance. \r\n\r\n\r\nEighteen Finnish championship level female ice hockey players volunteered to participate in this study. Four subjects dropped out due to personal reasons or illness. The remaining fourteen test subjects participated in all tests and training sessions. Participants were assigned into two groups. Compression group (COMP; height 165 \u00b1 6 cm, weight 68 \u00b1 12 kg, age 22 \u00b1 4, N = 6), which used compression, garments during HIIT. Control (CON; height 166 \u00b1 5 cm, weight 66 \u00b1 13 kg, age 22 \u00b1 3, N = 8) group was not allowed to use any kind of compression garments during the intervention, however, otherwise the training program was same as in COMP. \r\nTo investigate effects of HIIT between groups all measurements were made before and after two and a half week training intervention. Neuromuscular attributes that affect rate of force development (RFD) and maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) were investigated with spinal (H-reflex) and central nervous system (V-wave) responses. Muscle activity changes during RFD and MVC were investigated with surface EMG during laboratory measurements. In addition to the laboratory measurements, subjects also performed skating sprint and acceleration tests.\r\nBoth groups improved their plantar flexion MVC (COMP: pre 1051 \u00b1 166 N, post 1213 \u00b1 92 N, p = 0.028;CON: pre 1197 \u00b1 300 N, post 1305 \u00b1 257 N, p = 0.025) and RFD (COMP: pre 4321 \u00b1 1216 N\u2219s-1, post 4998 \u00b1 1247 N\u2219s-1, p = 0.028; CON: pre 4613 \u00b1 2136 N\u2219s-1, post 5301 \u00b1 2046 N\u2219s-1, p = 0.012) significantly.
