Menetelm\u00e4t, joilla kielioppia opetetaan, ovat laajalti opettajien itse p\u00e4\u00e4tett\u00e4viss\u00e4 ja opetusmenetelmien kirjo on valtava. Opetus voi olla hyvinkin opettajakeskeist\u00e4 ja tyylilt\u00e4\u00e4n luennoivaa tai puolestaan hyvin toiminnallista ja oppilasl\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kaikkea t\u00e4lt\u00e4 v\u00e4lilt\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkielma toteutettiin kuvailevana tapaustutkimuksena, johon osallistui yksi englantia vieraana kielen\u00e4 opettava alakoulun opettaja sek\u00e4 h\u00e4nen oppitunnillaan olleet 14 oppilasta. Tutkielman aihe oli kieliopin opetusmenetelm\u00e4t, joten huomio keskittyi opettajaan, ei oppilaisiin. Tutkielman aineistona oli 45minuutin pituinen englannin oppitunti ja opettajan haastattelu havainnoidun oppitunnin j\u00e4lkeen. Oppitunti sek\u00e4 haastattelu litteroitiin ja analysoitiin laadullisen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin keinoin.\r\n\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus pyrki vastaamaan kysymyksiin 1) Mit\u00e4 opetusmenetelmi\u00e4 opettaja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 kieliopin opettamisessa? 2) Mik\u00e4 opetusmenetelm\u00e4n valintaan vaikuttaa? Tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 opettajan tyyli oli hyvin perinteinen ja opettajajohtoinen. Menetelm\u00e4t, joita h\u00e4n k\u00e4ytti opettaessaan kielioppia, olivat audiolingual metodi sek\u00e4 grammar-translation metodi. Opetusmenetelm\u00e4n valintaan puolestaan vaikuttaa oppilaiden lukum\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4, taidot ja luonteenpiirteet. Opettaja mainitsi my\u00f6s ajank\u00e4yt\u00f6n olevan t\u00e4rke\u00e4 tekij\u00e4 oppitunteja suunniteltaessa.
