Lis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin terveystiedon ja liikunnan integraation haasteita ja sit\u00e4, millaiset tekij\u00e4t voisivat edesauttaa integraation yleistymisess\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli lis\u00e4t\u00e4 tiet\u00e4myst\u00e4 terveystiedon ja liikunnan integraation mahdollisuuksista sek\u00e4 antaa opettajille ja muille opetuksen suunnittelijoille vinkkej\u00e4 integraation toteuttamiseen.\n\nTutkimusaineisto koostui kahdeksasta yl\u00e4koulun terveystiedon- ja liikunnanopettajan puolistrukturoidusta teemahaastattelusta, jotka toteutettiin marraskuun 2014 ja tammikuun 2015 v\u00e4lisen\u00e4 aikana. Litteroitua aineistoa kertyi yhteens\u00e4 120 sivua (fontti Times New Roman, fonttikoko 12, riviv\u00e4li 1). Aineiston analyysimenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia sek\u00e4 kvantifiointia.\n\nOpettajat ymm\u00e4rsiv\u00e4t terveystiedon ja liikunnan integraation tarkoittavan terveystiedon sis\u00e4lt\u00f6jen yhdist\u00e4mist\u00e4 liikuntaan ja liikkumisen lis\u00e4\u00e4mist\u00e4 terveystiedon oppitunneille. Yleisimpi\u00e4 integroituja sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 olivat fyysinen toimintakyky, ravitsemus, tunteet ja sosiaalinen toimintakyky. Terveystiedon ja liikunnan integraatio oli p\u00e4\u00e4osin suunnittelematonta, ja sit\u00e4 tapahtui useimmiten tanssi- ja ilmaisuliikunnan, valinnaiskurssien sek\u00e4 voima- ja kest\u00e4vyysharjoittelun yhteydess\u00e4. Terveystiedon ja liikunnan integroiminen koettiin luontevaksi osaksi opetusty\u00f6t\u00e4, ja k\u00e4ytetyimpi\u00e4 integrointimenetelmi\u00e4 olivat opettajan ja oppilaiden yhteinen keskustelu, taukoliikunta terveystiedon oppitunneilla sek\u00e4 terveystiedon sis\u00e4lt\u00f6jen yhdist\u00e4minen liikkumiseen eri tavoin. Oppilaan suurimpana hy\u00f6tyn\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin tehokkaampi oppiminen, joka on integraation my\u00f6t\u00e4 kokonaisvaltaisempaa, oppilaskeskeisemp\u00e4\u00e4 ja eriytt\u00e4v\u00e4mp\u00e4\u00e4. Integraation ajateltiin j\u00e4sent\u00e4v\u00e4n my\u00f6s opettajan ty\u00f6t\u00e4, ja lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4n ty\u00f6n merkitykselliseksi ja virikkeelliseksi kokemista. Kouluissa vallitsevan oppiainejakoisuuden perinteen koettiin olevan terveystiedon ja liikunnan integraation suurin este. Oppiaineiden integraatio her\u00e4tti opettajissa ep\u00e4varmuutta omasta osaamisestaan sek\u00e4 integraation hy\u00f6dyist\u00e4, ja kouluty\u00f6n tiukat aikataulut vaikeuttivat integroimista. \n\nTerveystiedon ja liikunnan integraation yleistymiseen voisi vaikuttaa opettajien perus- ja t\u00e4ydennyskoulutuksella sek\u00e4 muuttamalla koulun toimintakulttuuria integraatiomy\u00f6nteisemm\u00e4ksi. Uusi valtakunnallinen opetussuunnitelma velvoittaa koulut pohtimaan integraatiomahdollisuuksia, ja oppiaineiden integraation konkretisoiminen kunta- ja koulukohtaisiin opetussuunnitelmiin olisi t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4. The study analyzed how teachers define integration of health education and PE, and what are the benefits of subject integration. Moreover, the study specified possible challenges regarding integration of health education and PE. Also factors that could help integration become more common were researched. The aim of the study was to increase knowledge of possibilities concerning integration of health education and physical education as well as offer some advice to teachers and others planning education and implementing integration.\n\nThe data consisted of eight health and physical education teachers\u2019 semi-structured thematic interviews that were conducted between November 2014 and January 2015. After transcribing the data there were 120 pages of text (font Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1). The data was analyzed following qualitative content analysis and quantification.\n\nTeachers understood that integrating health education and PE is combining health education contents to PE and bringing more physical activity to health education lessons. The most integrated contents were physical competence, nutrition, emotions and social competence. Integration of health education and PE was mainly unplanned, and it happened most often during dance classes, optional courses and weight and endurance training. Integrating health education and PE was seen as a natural part of teacher\u2019s job. The most used integration methods were conversation between teacher and pupils, adding physical activity to health education class and associating health contents with physical education tasks. More effective learning was seen as the integration\u2019s most important benefit for pupils. Learning in integrated unit was thought as more holistic, student-centered and suitable for pupils with different needs. Teachers mentioned that integration also organizes their work and makes it feel more meaningful and interesting. The biggest challenge for integration of health education and PE was told to be subject-based school culture. Among teachers integration aroused uncertainty about their proficiency and gains of integration. Tight schedules in schools made integration difficult to happen.\n\nThe factors that could affect integration become more common could be teachers\u2019 basic education and in-service training and more integration favorable school culture. New national curriculum obligates schools to think about possibilities of subject integration. Concretizing subject integration on school- and municipality-spesific curriculums would be important. Schools should provide time for teachers of different subjects to plan integration together.
