K\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4kokemuk-sia selvitettiin my\u00f6s tarkastelemalla pelaajien flow kokemuksia. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin MinecraftEdu peli\u00e4, joka on TeacherGaming LLC yrityksen tekem\u00e4 vi-rallinen opetusversio Minecraft pelist\u00e4. Pelaamisen kontekstit, jossa peli\u00e4 pelat-tiin, olivat kouluaika ja vapaa-aika. Erilaisista konteksteista johtuen sek\u00e4 ulkoiset tekij\u00e4t ett\u00e4 my\u00f6s sis\u00e4iset tekij\u00e4t kuten, p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t, tavoitteet, ja motivaatio vaihtelevat. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytetyt metodit koostuivat \u00e4\u00e4neen ajattelun, obser-voinnin ja kyselyjen yhdistelmist\u00e4.\r\nKontekstilla n\u00e4ytti olevan vaikutusta k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4kokemukseen, vaikka vaikutuksia flow kokemukseen ei l\u00f6ytynyt. Yleisesti ottaen p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n asetta-minen oli selke\u00e4sti vaikuttavin kategoria molempien kontekstien pelikokemuk-sissa. K\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4kokemuksen erona oli se, ett\u00e4 kouluaikana pelikokemuksissa oli enemm\u00e4n variaatiota kuin vapaa-ajan peli sessioissa. T\u00e4h\u00e4n saattoi vaikuttaa se, ett\u00e4 kouluajalla esiintyi erilaisia ulkoisia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 kuin vapaa-ajalla. Ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6, v\u00e4lineet ja ihmissuhteet olivat erilaisia n\u00e4iss\u00e4 kahdessa kontekstissa.\r\nVaikka p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n asettaminen oli p\u00e4\u00e4asiallinen kategoria k\u00e4yt-t\u00e4j\u00e4kokemuksessa my\u00f6s vapaa-ajalla, pohdiskeleva pelityyli oli vaikuttavampi kategoria vapaa-ajalla p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n asettamisen tyylin kustannuksella. Pohdis-kelevassa pelityyliss\u00e4 pelaaja miettii muun muassa pelin ominaisuuksia ja aiem-pia pelikokemuksia. Kontekstin vaikutukset flown kokemiseen eiv\u00e4t olleet selvi\u00e4, mutta flow kokemuksen aste n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 olevan samalla henkil\u00f6ll\u00e4 samansuun-tainen sek\u00e4 koulu ajalla ett\u00e4 vapaa-ajalla. Pelij\u00e4rjestykseen liittyv\u00e4 en-sivaikutelma efekti ei vaikuttanut pelikokemukseen. Toisella pelikerralla tuli pa-remmat flow kokemuksen pisteet kuin ensimm\u00e4isell\u00e4 pelikerralla riippumatta siit\u00e4, aloitettiinko pelaaminen koulussa vai vapaa-ajalla. T\u00e4m\u00e4 tarkoittaa sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 flow kokemukseen vaikutti ennemminkin tuttuus kuin uutuuden vieh\u00e4tys kontekstista riippumatta.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this thesis was to study whether or not there are differences in user experiences of children when playing digital games in two different contexts. User experiences were studied also by observing the flow experiences of the play-ers. The game used in this study is MinecraftEdu, which a modification is made for educational purposes from Minecraft by TeacherGaming LLC. The variation of contexts is based on playing the same game in free time and during school time. Not only do the external factors vary but also the goals, tasks, and motiva-tions because of the nature of these two contexts. The methods used are a combi-nation of thinking aloud, co-operative observation and questionnaires.\r\nThe context did seem to have an effect on the user experience even though the effects on flow experience were not found. Generally the goal making was clearly the most influential category in the play experiences of both contexts. The difference in user experience was that there is more variation in play experience during school time play experience than during free time play sessions. This might occur because of the influence of different external features existing during school time when comparing to the free time context. Environment, equipment and relations are different in these two contexts.\r\nEven though the goal making category was a major element of user experi-ence also during free time play experiences, the pondering play style was more influential during free time and at the expense of goal making. In the pondering style player is thinking the features of the game or the earlier play experiences. It is not clear if the differences in context have an effect on the flow experience, but the same persons are getting similar flow experiences scores both during school and free time play experience. The game experience order does not seem to create the first effect acting on the play experiences in this study. Second trials received better flow scores for both those who started in school and in free time.
