Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu \u2013tutkielma.\r\nJyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto. 79 s.\r\nLasten ja nuorten fyysisen aktiivisuuden on todettu viime vuosikymmenin\u00e4 v\u00e4hentyneen.\r\nToisaalta fyysisen aktiivisuuden yhteydet koulumenestykseen kiinnostavat yh\u00e4 useampaa\r\nliikunta- ja kasvatusalan ammattilaista. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4\r\nyhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisten tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta ja sen yhteytt\u00e4\r\nkoulumenestykseen ja jatko-opintosuunnitelmiin.\r\nTutkimuksen kohderyhm\u00e4n\u00e4 oli 338 kolmen yl\u00e4koulun yhdeks\u00e4nnen luokan oppilasta, joista\r\npuolet (n=168) oli tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja puolet (n=168) poikia. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin lokakuussa\r\n2014. Tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin kysely\u00e4, jonka avulla ker\u00e4ttiin tietoa muun muassa\r\noppilaiden fyysisest\u00e4 aktiivisuudesta, itse arvioidusta koulumenestyksest\u00e4, osallistumisesta\r\norganisoituun tai omaehtoiseen liikuntaan ja jatko-opintosuunnitelmista. Oppilaiden\r\ntaustatietoja kuvailtiin frekvensseill\u00e4 ja prosenttiosuuksilla. Khiin neli\u00f6- testin avulla tutkittiin\r\nsukupuolten v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja fyysisen aktiivisuuden m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ss\u00e4, koulumenestyksess\u00e4 ja jatkoopintosuunnitelmissa\r\nsek\u00e4 fyysisen kokonaisaktiivisuuden yhteytt\u00e4 koulumenestykseen ja\r\njatko-opintosuunnitelmiin. Tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien liikunnan arvosanan keskiarvojen eroja\r\ntarkasteltiin kahden riippumattoman otoksen t- testill\u00e4. Fyysisen kokonaisaktiivisuuden\r\nyhteytt\u00e4 liikunnan arvosanaan tutkittiin yksisuuntaisen varianssianalyysin avulla.\r\nTulosten mukaan poikien fyysinen kokonaisaktiivisuus oli hieman korkeampi kuin tytt\u00f6jen.\r\nTyt\u00f6t harrastivat organisoidusti enemm\u00e4n yksil\u00f6- kuin joukkuelajeja. Pojat harrastivat\r\norganisoitua liikuntaa niin viikkotuntim\u00e4\u00e4rill\u00e4 kuin viikkokertam\u00e4\u00e4rill\u00e4 mitattuna enemm\u00e4n\r\nkuin tyt\u00f6t. Omatoimista liikuntaa harrastavista oppilaista suurin osa harrasti yksil\u00f6lajeja.\r\nOmatoimista liikuntaa harrastettiin enemm\u00e4n kuin organisoitua liikuntaa. Tyt\u00f6t ja pojat\r\nharrastivat omatoimista liikuntaa yht\u00e4 paljon.Keskiarvolla mitattuna tyt\u00f6t menestyiv\u00e4t\r\nparemmin koulussa kuin pojat. Liikunnan numeroita tarkasteltaessa sukupuolten v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja\r\nei havaittu. Tulosten mukaan tyt\u00f6t suunnittelivat hakeutuvansa ennemmin lukioon kuin\r\nammattikouluun. Pojat hakeutuivat useammin ammattikouluun kuin tyt\u00f6t. Fyysisell\u00e4\r\nkokonaisaktiivisuudella ei havaittu olevan yhteytt\u00e4 keskiarvolla mitattuun koulumenestykseen\r\neik\u00e4 itse arvioituun koulumenestykseen. Fyysinen kokonaisaktiivisuus oli yhteydess\u00e4\r\nliikunnan arvosanaan. Mit\u00e4 korkeampaan fyysisen kokonaisaktiivisuuden luokkaan oppilas\r\nkuului, sit\u00e4 parempi oli h\u00e4nen liikunnan arvosanansa. The\r\nfaculty of Sport Sciences, the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4. 79 pages.\r\nThe purpose of the study was to examine physical activity of ninth grade students and how it\r\ninfluences on academic achievement and postgraduate study plans. The study was carried out\r\nin the fall of 2014. The research method of the study was quantitative and the data was\r\ncollected by a questionnaire compiled by 338 subjects (168 girls, 168 boys).\r\nBackground information of the subjects was analyzed using frequencies and the percentages.\r\nChi-square test was used to analyze differences between genders on physical activity,\r\nacademic achievement and postgraduate studies. Chi- square test was also used to analyze\r\ninfluence of physical activity on academic achievement and postgraduate studies. T-test was\r\nused to analyze differences between the boys and the girls PE grades. The influence of\r\nphysical activity on PE grade was analyzed using the analysis of variance.\r\nThe results showed that boys were physically more active than girls. In organized sports the\r\ngirls preferred individual sport over team sport. The boys were more active than girls in both\r\nhours per week and times per week. Unorganized sports were more common than organized\r\nsports. The amount of unorganized sport participation was the same for the boys and the girls.\r\nThe girls did better in school than the boys. When comparing PE grades there were no\r\ndifferences between the girls and the boys. The results showed that the girls will apply for\r\nhigh school more likely than for vocational school. The boys applied more likely for\r\nvocational school than the girls. Physical activity did not correlate with self- assessed\r\nacademic achievement and objectively measured academic achievement in this study.\r\nPhysical activity correlated with the PE grade.
