Linssinä toimineen galaksin massa ja linssiytyneen galaksin alkuperäinen muoto voidaan tällöin laskennallisesti selvit- tää, ja näin saada tietoa linssigalaksin massan ja teleskoopilla suoraan havaitun valon määrän suhteesta. Tämän lähtökohtaisesti huonosti määritellyn inversio-ongelman laskennallinen ratkaiseminen vaatii kuitenkin ongelman uudelleenmäärittelyä eli regularisaatiota. Ongelman ratkaisemiseen kehitetyt menetelmät perustuvat yleensä epälineaariseen optimointiin ja hyödyntävät toisistaan eroavia regularisaatiostra- tegioita. Tässä työssä tutkin simuloitujen galaksien avulla, suosivatko Tikhonov-, kokonaisvariaatio- ja maksimientropiaregularisaatio tietynlaisia ratkaisuja. Työtä varten toteutin simulointiin soveltuvan ohjelmistokokonaisuuden käyttäen numeriik- kaan harvemmin käytettyä Haskell-ohjelmointikieltä. Tehdyt simulaatiot vahvistavat aiemmin tunnetun sileyttä optimoivien regularisaatiomenetelmien käytöksen, joka suosii yleisesti matalan keskeiskonsentraation omaavia galakseja. Regularisaatio- menetelmien välillä ei havaittu merkittäviä eroja tutkituissa parametriavaruuksien osissa käytetyillä keskeissymmetrisillä galaksimalleilla. The gravitation of massive galaxies causes a distortion of the images detected by telescopes by deflecting the light passing by the galaxy. So called strong gravitational lenses can cause a single background galaxy to appear as multiple arcs in the image. When this happens, the mass of the lens galaxy and the original shape of the background galaxy may be computed numerically, allowing information of the mass-to-light ratio of the lens galaxy to be inferred using the telescope data of the luminosity of the galaxy. However, this inverse problem is ill-posed, and needs to be made well-posed i.e. regularized in order to find a solution. The methods developed for the problem are usually based on nonlinear optimization and employ different regularization strategies. In this work I study the possible biases of Tikhonov, total variation and maximum entropy methods using simulated galaxies. For the work I implemented a software compilation capable of simulating the galaxies using the Haskell programming language, which is rarely used in numerical work. The simulations confirm the known smoothing effect of the regularizations, which causes them to prefer less centrally concentrated galaxies. No significant differences between the regularizations were observed in the parameter spaces of the studied centrally symmetric galaxy models.
