Rehev\u00f6ityminen johtuu kasvulle t\u00e4rkeimpien\r\nravinteiden pitoisuuksien kasvusta, mik\u00e4 mahdollistaa perustuotannon lis\u00e4\u00e4ntymisen.\r\nRehev\u00f6itymisen vaikutukset n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t lopulta ravintoverkon kaikilla trofiatasoilla.\r\nRehev\u00f6itymisen seurauksena j\u00e4rven ekosysteemin rakenne ja toiminta muuttuvat niin, ett\u00e4\r\nj\u00e4rven kyky tarjota ekosysteemipalveluja heikkenee. Pintavesien rehev\u00f6itymisen ja muiden\r\nvesiensuojelullisten ongelmien hallitsemiseksi Euroopan Unioni on luonut yhten\u00e4isen\r\nvesipolitiikan j\u00e4senvaltioiden kesken. Vuonna 2000 voimaan tulleen EU:n vesipolitiikan\r\npuitedirektiivin (VPD) tavoitteena on est\u00e4\u00e4 pintavesien tilan huononeminen ja saavuttaa\r\nniiden hyv\u00e4 ekologinen tila. Direktiivin toimeenpanemiseksi on toteutettu j\u00e4rvien\r\nekologisen tilan luokittelu, jonka tarkoituksena on arvioida, kuinka paljon ihmistoiminta on\r\nmuuttanut niiden tilaa. Mik\u00e4li tarkasteltavan j\u00e4rven tila todetaan hyv\u00e4\u00e4 huonommaksi,\r\nedellytet\u00e4\u00e4n toimenpiteit\u00e4 hyv\u00e4n ekologisen tilan saavuttamiseksi. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen\r\nkohteena olevan j\u00e4rven, Hauhonsel\u00e4n, ekologinen tila on tyydytt\u00e4v\u00e4. Hauhonsel\u00e4ll\u00e4\r\nhavaittuja ongelmia ovat mm. sinilev\u00e4kukinnat ja runsas s\u00e4rkikalakanta. T\u00e4m\u00e4n\r\ntutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli I) selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 Hauhonsel\u00e4n ekologinen ja fysikaaliskemiallinen\r\nnykytila sek\u00e4 sen kehitys viime vuosikymmenin\u00e4, II) tarkastella j\u00e4rveen\r\nkohdistuvan ulkoisen ravinnekuormituksen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 sek\u00e4 selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 j\u00e4rve\u00e4 eniten\r\nkuormittavat alueet ja III) asettaa tavoite j\u00e4rven kunnostukselle ja l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohdat tavoitteen\r\nsaavuttamiselle. Hauhonsel\u00e4n fysikaalis-kemiallinen tila heikentyi \u00e4killisesti 1990-luvun\r\nlopulla. Merkitt\u00e4vimm\u00e4t Hauhonselk\u00e4\u00e4 kuormittavat alueet olivat Vuolujoen, Kirrisen ja\r\nVuorensel\u00e4n valuma-alueet. Ulkoiselle kuormitukselle m\u00e4\u00e4riteltiin tavoitetaso Lake Load\r\nResponse (LLR) -ty\u00f6kalun avulla. Ty\u00f6kalun perusteella hyv\u00e4n ekologisen tilan\r\nsaavuttamiseksi Hauhonselk\u00e4\u00e4n tulevaa ravinnekuormitusta on v\u00e4hennett\u00e4v\u00e4 v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n 10\r\n% kokonaisfosforin osalta ja 20 % kokonaistypen osalta. Eutrophication is caused by increased\r\nconcentration of the main nutrients which enables a primary production to increase. Effects\r\nof the eutrophication can finally be seen in all trophic levels. As a consequence, the\r\nstructure and function of the ecosystem change and its ability to offer ecosystem services\r\ndeclines. The European Union has created the policy to control the eutrophication and\r\nother water pollution problems. The water framework directive (WFD) came into effect in\r\n2000 and its aim is to prevent pollution of surface waters and achieve at least good\r\necological state of them. To implement the directive, the classification of lakes has been\r\nestablished. Its aim is to evaluate, how much the state of lakes has been altered by\r\nanthropogenic action. If the state is worse than good, it requires action to achieve the good\r\necological state. The study lake of this investigation was Lake Hauhonselk\u00e4, the ecological\r\nstate of which is only acceptable. The problems observed in Hauhonselk\u00e4 are\r\ncyanobacterial blooms and abundant population of cyprinids, which reduce the recreational\r\nuse of the lake. The aims of this study were I) to determine the ecological, physical and\r\nchemical characteristics of the lake at present state and the changes of those during the past\r\nfew decades, II) to identify the amount of the external nutrient load and to examine the\r\nmost important nutrient loading catchments of the lake and III) to set a target for lake\r\nrestoration and premises to achieve it. The physical and the chemical state of Hauhonselk\u00e4\r\nworsened suddenly at the end of the 20th century. The most important catchment causing\r\nthe nutrient load of Hauhonselk\u00e4 was the catchment of River Vuolujoki and the catchments\r\nof Lake Vuorenselk\u00e4 and Lake Kirrinen. The target level of external nutrient load was set\r\nby using Lake Load Response (LLR) -tool. On the grounds of the LLR -tool, the external\r\nphosphorus load must be reduced by at least 10 % and nitrogen load at least 20 % to\r\nachieve the good ecological state.
