Urheilijoiden ravitsemustot-tumusten ja sit\u00e4 kautta my\u00f6s ravinnonsaannin on todettu olevan parempaa muuhun v\u00e4est\u00f6\u00f6n verrattuna, mutta urheilu-uran vaikutuksia ravitsemustottumuksiin urheilu-uran loppumisen j\u00e4lkeen on tutkittu vain v\u00e4h\u00e4n. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 palloilulajien suomalaisten entisten huippu-urheilijamiesten nykyisi\u00e4 ravitsemustottumuksia sek\u00e4 ravitse-mustottumusten yhteytt\u00e4 heid\u00e4n kehonkoostumukseensa.\n\nTutkielman aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin vuonna 2008 kyselytutkimuksena sek\u00e4 fyysisin\u00e4 mittauksina 120 entiselt\u00e4 palloilulajien huippu-urheilijalta ja heid\u00e4n 207 verrokiltaan osana laajaa entisten urheilijoiden tutkimusta. Tutkimushenkil\u00f6t olivat edustaneet Suomea kansainv\u00e4lisiss\u00e4 kilpai-luissa v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n kerran vuosina 1920\u20131965. Verrokkihenkil\u00f6t oli valittu 20-vuotiaina t\u00e4ysin terveist\u00e4 samanik\u00e4isist\u00e4. Tutkittavat olivat 59\u201387-vuotiaita (keski-ik\u00e4 71,6 \u00b15,8 vuotta). Mit-tareina k\u00e4ytettiin kyselytutkimusta ruokailu- ja ravitsemustottumusten selvitt\u00e4miseksi sek\u00e4 bioimpedanssia kehonkoostumuksen mittaamiseen. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin IBM SPSS Statistics 20-ohjelmalla. Analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin prosenttijakaumaa, Kolmogorov Smirnovin testi\u00e4 aineiston normaalisuuden testaamiseen sek\u00e4 ristiintaulukointia, khiin neli\u00f6-testi\u00e4, osit-taiskorrelaatiota, lineaarista regressioanalyysi\u00e4 ja monimuuttujaista varianssianalyysia (MA-NOVA).\n\nEntiset huippu-urheilijat n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isiv\u00e4t kuluttavan enemm\u00e4n tuoreita kasviksia (p=.007), ka-nanmunia (p=.020), liharuokia (p=.008) sek\u00e4 maustamattomia maitotuotteita (p=.028), vaaleaa leip\u00e4\u00e4 (p=.009) ja valmisruokia (p=.031). He my\u00f6s juovat enemm\u00e4n t\u00e4ysmehuja (p=.033) Ruokaryhmist\u00e4 entiset urheilijat kuluttivat merkitsev\u00e4sti enemm\u00e4n kalaa ja siipikarjaa (p=.005). Ruoanlaitossa suurempi osa entisist\u00e4 urheilijoista k\u00e4ytti suositusten mukaisia rasvoja (p=.039), kun taas leiv\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 k\u00e4ytett\u00e4vien rasvojen osalta verrokit t\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t suositukset paremmin (p=.027). Erityisruokavalioiden osalta ryhm\u00e4t eiv\u00e4t poikenneet toisistaan. Lis\u00e4kkeiden (peruna, pasta, riisi) k\u00e4yt\u00f6ll\u00e4 n\u00e4ytti olevan positiivista yhteytt\u00e4 entisten urheilijoiden rasvaprosenttiin (r=.221, p=.019). I\u00e4ll\u00e4 ja koulutuksella oli vaikutusta urheilijoiden ravitsemustottumuksiin.\n\nEntiset palloilulajien urheilijat n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t sy\u00f6v\u00e4n osittain muuta v\u00e4est\u00f6\u00e4 terveellisemmin, mutta heid\u00e4nkin ravitsemustottumuksissaan on parantamisen varaa. The current nutritional habits of the former elite athletes in team sports. Department of Health Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s thesis, 54 pp, 1 appendix.\n\nThe sports career of an athlete is based on optimal practice, nutrition and rest. The athletes meet the nutritional recommendations better compared to the rest of the population. Little is still known about the effects of the former sports career to nutritional habits after terminating the career. The purpose of this study was to find out if the nutritional habits of former team sport athletes differ from their control cohort and whether their nutritional habits have an as-sociation with their body composition.\n\nThe data was collected 2008 from the former elite athletes (n=120) and the controls (n=207). Food frequency questionnaire for determining the nutritional habits was used and bioelectrical impedance was measured to analyze body composition. The former elite athletes had repre-sented Finland in international competitions at least once during 1920\u20131965. The controls were selected from the completely healthy men from the same conscription groups. The data was analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 20-software using Kolmogorov Smirnov-test, cross-tab distributions, \u03c7\u00b2-test, Mann Whitney U-test, partial correlation, linear regression and MANOVA.\n\nFormer athletes consumed more fresh vegetables (p=.007), eggs (p=.020), meat dishes (p=.008), plain dairy products (p=.028), wheat bread (p=.009), convenience foods (p=.031) and juices (p=.033). Fish and poultry were used significantly more often among the former athletes (p=.005). The former athletes group met the recommendations of cooking fats better (p=.039), whereas the controls met them with spreads (p=.027). The groups showed no differ-ences in special diets. The consumption of the side dishes (potato, pasta, rice) had a positive correlation with the body fat percentage of the former athletes (r=.221, p=.019). Age and edu-cation showed a confounding effect on nutrition habits.\n\nThe results suggest the former team sport athletes follow only in part healthier nutritional hab-its than their controls. Nutritional habits appeared not to have an overall effect on body fat percentage of the former athletes.
