Tässä kirjallisuuskatsauksena toteutetussa tutkielmassa käsiteltiin mobiilipelimarkkinoiden ja terveysmobiilipelien kehitystä. Mobiilipelimarkkinoiden kehitystä tarkasteltiin tilastotietojen perusteella ja niissä näkyviin muutoksiin esitettiin syitä. Terveysmobiilipelien kehitystä tarkasteltiin hyötyviihdettä kehityksen näkökulmasta. Näistä aiheista tehtiin johtopäätöksiä ja pohdittiin, onko terveysmobiilipeleillä mahdollisuuksia menestyä mobiilipelimarkkinoilla. Tutkielmassa selvitettiin, millaisia tukevia ja estäviä tekijöitä terveysmobiilipeleillä on mobiilipelimarkkinoilla menestyäkseen. Tutkimustuloksena todettiin, että kasvaneet mobiilipelimarkkinat ja terveydenhuollon ratkaisujen tarve tarjoavat mahdollisuuksia terveysmobiilipeleille, mutta terveysmobiilipelialan ollessa vielä verrattain nuori ala, ovat nämä mahdollisuudet vielä rajalliset. Mobiilipelimarkkinoilla menestyäkseen ja erottuakseen joukosta tulee terveysmobiilipelin olla innovatiivinen ja hyvin markkinoitu. Tutkielma selvensi hieman terveysmobiilipelien tilannetta ja antoi aihetta jatkotutkimuksille. Mobile gaming is continuously growing as a way to spend time and therefore the mobile games market has also grown. Obesity and other health related problems that can be managed by person’s own actions are getting more and more common. Mobile health games are proposed to be a partial solution to these problems. In this thesis a literature review was conducted to analyze mo-bile games market and mobile health games and their evolution. The evolution of mobile games market was reviewed with statistics and reasons for the chan-ges were presented. The evolution of mobile health games was reviewed from the perspective of serious entertainment. From these reviews conclusions were made to evaluate the business potential of mobile health games. Also pros and cons of mobile health games in mobile markets were presented. The results of the thesis were that the grown mobile markets and the need for health care so-lutions offer opportunities for mobile health games to be successful. However mobile health games being a relatively new area the opportunities are limited. To be successful and to stand out from the mass a mobile health game must be innovative and well marketed. The thesis clarified the situation of mobile games market and gave ground for further research.
