Liikuntakasvatuksen laitos, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma, 85 s., 5 liitett\u00e4. \n\nTutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 lukiolaisten temperamenttipiirteiden ja liikunnan arvosanojen v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4. Liikunnan arvosanojen ja temperamenttipiirteiden jakautumista tutkittiin erikseen tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja pojilla. Lis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin temperamenttipiirteiden keskin\u00e4isi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 ja tarkasteltiin piirteiden ilmenemist\u00e4 heikoimpia, kiitett\u00e4vi\u00e4 ja erinomaisia liikunnan arvosanoja saaneilla tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja pojilla. Edell\u00e4 mainittuja tuloksia verrattiin sukupuolten v\u00e4lill\u00e4. \n\nTutkimuksen kohdejoukko koostui lukion toisen vuosikurssin oppilaista Kouvolan lyseon ja yhteiskoulun lukioista, sek\u00e4 Kuusamon lukiosta. Lopullinen otos koostui 162 oppilaasta, joista tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 oli 94 (58%) ja poikia 68 (42%). Tutkimuksessa mittarina k\u00e4ytettiin temperamentin itsearviointiin tarkoitettua Adult Temperament Questionnaire short form -mittarin (ATQ) (Derryberry & Rothbart 1988) suomenkielist\u00e4 versiota (liite 4). Lis\u00e4ksi tarkastelimme kahden pakollisen liikuntakurssin arvosanojen keskiarvoa. Mittarin luotettavuutta tarkasteltiin Cronbachin alfakertoimilla, jotka vaihtelivat v\u00e4lill\u00e4 .52\u2212.76. Mittarin validiteettia taas tarkasteltiin faktorianalyysill\u00e4. Muuttujien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 analysoitiin riippumattomien otosten t-testill\u00e4, Pearsonin tulomomenttikorrelaatiokertoimilla ja varianssianalyysill\u00e4. \n\nSek\u00e4 tyt\u00f6t ett\u00e4 pojat saivat aineistossa korkeita liikunnan arvosanoja yleisimm\u00e4n arvosanan ollessa molemmilla yhdeks\u00e4n. Suurin osa tyt\u00f6ist\u00e4 ja pojista kuului kiitett\u00e4vien arvosanaluokkaan. Temperamenttipiirteit\u00e4 tarkasteltiin nelj\u00e4ss\u00e4 yl\u00e4luokassa ja 13 yksitt\u00e4isen\u00e4 piirteen\u00e4. Sek\u00e4 tyt\u00f6t ett\u00e4 pojat arvioivat itsens\u00e4 ulosp\u00e4in suuntautuneiksi ja negatiivinen affektiivisuus kuvasi molempia sukupuolia huonoiten. Sukupuolten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ilmeni tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4 ero n\u00e4iss\u00e4 yl\u00e4luokissa tytt\u00f6jen kokiessa ulosp\u00e4in suuntautuneisuuden ja negatiivisen affektiivisuuden poikia voimakkaammiksi. Tulokset osoittivat teorian mukaisesti l\u00e4hes kaikkien samaan yl\u00e4luokkaan kuuluvien temperamenttipiirteiden korreloivan positiivisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti kesken\u00e4\u00e4n. Lis\u00e4ksi temperamenttipiirteiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ilmeni merkitsevi\u00e4 korrelaatioita eri yl\u00e4luokkiin kuuluvissa piirteiss\u00e4. Korkeita arvosanoja saaneet tyt\u00f6t raportoivat korkeaa tunteiden ja toiminnan hallintaa, sosiaalisuutta, sek\u00e4 my\u00f6nteisten tunteiden kokemista kun taas korkeita arvosanoja saaneet pojat raportoivat alhaista herkkyytt\u00e4 tunteille, mielikuville ja mielleyhtymille. Tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja pojilla merkitsevi\u00e4 arvosanaluokkien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja ja merkitsevi\u00e4 korrelaatioita arvosanaan ilmeni samoissa piirteiss\u00e4: tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 toiminnan hallinnassa, sosiaalisuudessa ja my\u00f6nteisten tunteiden kokemisessa, pojilla herkkyys tunteille sek\u00e4 herkkyys mielikuville ja mielleyhtymille -piirteiss\u00e4. \n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus vahvistaa aiempaa suomalaista tutkimustulosta siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 temperamentti on yhteydess\u00e4 liikunnan arviointiin. University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s Thesis, 85 p., five Appendixes. \n\nThe purpose of this study was to examine connections between self-reported temperament traits and physical education grades of high school students. First we studied the PE grades and then the temperament traits with boys and girls. In addition we examined correlations between the different temperament traits as well as the traits which appear with the male and female students getting the lowest, average, and the highest PE grades. Furthermore, we compared these results between boys and girls. \n\nThe data for this study was gathered from the second year high school students from Kouvola and Kuusamo. The final sample consisted of 162 students of which 94 (58%) were girls and 68 (42%) were boys. As a meter in our study we used the Finnish version of the Adult Temperament Questionnaire short form (ATQ) (Derryberry & Rothbart 1988) (appendix 3). In addition we used the mean grade of two obligatory PE courses. Cronbach\u2019s alphas were used to examine the reliability of our questionnaire. Alphas varied between .52\u2012.76. The validity of our questionnaire was examined with factor analysis. Correlations between variables were analyzed using the independent sample t-test, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and the analysis of variance. \n\nThe results of our study show that both boys and girls get high PE grades the most common grade being nine. Majority of girls and boys settled in the group of students getting the highest PE grades. After examining the temperament traits in four general constructs and as 13 individual traits it was found that both sexes reported themselves as high in extroversion and low in being negative affect. There arose a significant statistical difference between the genders in these general constructs as girls experienced being both extrovert and negative affect more robustly than boys. Similarly to the theory on the matter, our data proved that there is a significant positive correlation between almost all the temperament traits which form the general constructs. In addition, the results indicated significant correlations between temperament traits in different general constructs as well. The girls with high grades reported high values in inhibitory control, activation control, sociability and high intensity pleasure whereas the boys with high grades reported low values in affective perceptual sensitivity and associative sensitivity. Significant statistical differences and correlations between groups formed according to grades as well as between grades and temperament traits occurred with the same traits: with girls, in activation control, sociability and high intensity pleasure, and with boys in affective perceptual sensitivity and associative sensitivity. \n\nThis study confirmed earlier findings in Finnish studies that there are connections between temperament and PE grades. PE teachers should be more aware of the significance of temperament in grading. Consequently, PE teachers could ensure the equity of grading and support all different kinds of students adopting active lifestyle.
