Tutkimuksen yleisen\u00e4 viitekehyksen\u00e4 toimi humanistinen johtaminen, jossa keski\u00f6ss\u00e4 vaikuttavuuden saavuttamiseksi on henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n oppimisen korostaminen kaikissa henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n kehitt\u00e4mistoimissa. Onnistunut koulutus m\u00e4\u00e4riteltiin tutkimuksessa koulutuksena, jonka henkil\u00f6st\u00f6 koki merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4ksi oppimisko- kemukseksi tai muulla tavoin hy\u00f6dylliseksi ty\u00f6ns\u00e4 kannalta.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtana toimi teoriapohjainen \u201dMerkitt\u00e4v\u00e4t oppimiskokemukset vie- raan kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksessa\u201d -malli, jossa yhdistyi aikuiskoulutuksen, vieraan kie- len oppimisen sek\u00e4 ty\u00f6paikkaoppimisen kirjallisuus. Kehitt\u00e4\u00e4kseen mallia englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksen kontekstiin sopivaksi k\u00e4sill\u00e4 oleva tutkimus pyrki selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n voisiko jo ennest\u00e4\u00e4n ty\u00f6paikkaoppimiseen ja/tai vieraan kielen oppimiseen todetut vaikut- tavat tekij\u00e4t vaikuttaa my\u00f6s englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksen onnistumiseen.\r\n\r\nEmpiirinen tutkimus toteutettiin er\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 terveydenhuollon palvelualan organisaatiossa. Siihen osallistui yhdeks\u00e4n ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4\u00e4, jotka olivat osallistuneet kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2014 ty\u00f6nantajansa j\u00e4rjest\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n vapaaehtoiseen englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutukseen. Tutkimusaineiston materiaali koottiin henkil\u00f6kohtaisissa keskusteluissa puolistrukturoiduin teemahaastatte- luin kielikoulutuksen p\u00e4\u00e4ttymiseen j\u00e4lkeen.\r\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t, joiden on aikaisemmin todettu vaikuttavan vieraan kielen oppimiseen vaikuttivat my\u00f6s englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksen onnis- tumiseen. Toisaalta tutkimustulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6paikkaoppimiseen ennalta todetut vaikuttavat tekij\u00e4t poikkesivat englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksen onnistumiseen vai- kuttavista tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4. Tuloksissa onnistumiseen vaikuttavina tekij\u00f6in\u00e4 korostuivat ty\u00f6nteki- j\u00e4n sis\u00e4inen motivaatio osallistua koulutukseen, asenne omia oppimismahdollisuuksiaan ja englannin kielt\u00e4 kohtaan sek\u00e4 koulutuksen sis\u00e4lt\u00f6, koulutusryhm\u00e4 ja kouluttaja. Tutkimuk- sen tulokset olivat yhdensuuntaisia humanististen oppimisteorioiden kanssa.\r\n\r\nGlobaali englanninkielisen kommunikoinnin kasvutrendi teollisuudessa, kaupassa ja kulttuurin alalla merkitsee erityisesti Suomessa sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 englannin kielen henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulu- tuksen tarve kasvaa. Tutkimustulokset ja sen pohjalta kehitetty malli toimii apuv\u00e4lineen\u00e4 englannin, tai vaihtoehtoisesti muun vieraan kielen, henkil\u00f6st\u00f6koulutuksen suunnittelussa.
