Keskeisen\u00e4 teht\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 oli tutkia, miten opiskelijat ja opettaja kokevat toiminnallisen harjoittelun osana lukion liikuntakasvatusta. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin, millaisia muutoksia opiskeli-joiden keskivartalonhallinnassa ja dynaamisessa tasapainossa tapahtui nelj\u00e4n viikon harjoitte-lujakson aikana.\r\n\r\nTutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin toimintatutkimusta, jonka tarkoituksena oli vied\u00e4 toiminnal-linen harjoittelu koulumaailmaan. Kohderyhm\u00e4n\u00e4 olivat pohjois-pohjanmaalaisen lukion opiskelijat, jotka olivat valinneet valinnaisen liikuntakurssin LI4 - Yhdess\u00e4 liikkuen. Liikunta-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 oli 22 opiskelijaa, joista 8 oli tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja 14 poikia. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin keskivartalon-hallintaa ja dynaamista tasapainoa mittaavilla alku- ja lopputesteill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kysely- ja palaute-lomakkeiden avulla.\r\n\r\nAineiston analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin sek\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisi\u00e4 ett\u00e4 laadullisia menetelmi\u00e4. Aineisto ei ollut normaalisti jakautunut, joten analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin parametrittomia testej\u00e4. Kysely-lomakkeiden avoimet kysymykset analysoitiin teemoittelun ja sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin avulla.\r\n\r\nOpiskelijat ja opettajat kokivat toiminnallisen harjoittelujakson onnistuneeksi. Tyt\u00f6t kuitenkin suhtautuivat harjoittelujaksoon poikia my\u00f6nteisemmin. Suurin osa opiskelijoista aikoi hy\u00f6-dynt\u00e4\u00e4 oppimiaan toiminnallisia harjoitteita ja liikkeit\u00e4 vapaa-ajallaan. My\u00f6s opiskelijoiden keskivartalonhallinta ja dynaaminen tasapaino kehittyiv\u00e4t harjoittelujakson aikana. Sukupuol-ten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei ollut eroja alku- ja lopputestien v\u00e4lill\u00e4. S\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6llisesti liikuntaa vapaa-ajallaan harrastavat opiskelijat suhtautuivat toiminnalliseen harjoitteluun my\u00f6nteisemmin kuin aktiivi-liikkujat tai v\u00e4h\u00e4n liikkuvat opiskelijat. Liikuntaharrastustyypeist\u00e4 kest\u00e4vyysurheilijat kokivat toiminnallisen harjoittelun mielekk\u00e4imm\u00e4ksi. Taitopainotteista liikuntaa harrastavat suhtau-tuivat kest\u00e4vyysurheilijoita ja taito-tehotyyppist\u00e4 liikuntaa harrastavia opiskelijoita negatiivi-semmin toiminnalliseen harjoitteluun. Department of Physical Education, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u2019s thesis, 70p., 8 appendices.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of the study was to examine how functional training applies to physical educa-tion. The primary goal was to examine how students and their teacher experience functional training as part of physical education in high school. Progress on students\u2019 trunk control and dynamic balance were also examined during the 4-week intervention period.\r\n\r\nIn this study, action research was used as a research method. The aim was to introduce func-tional training into schools. The study was conducted in a small high school in Northern Osthrobothnia as part of an optional physical education course LI4 \u2013 Yhdess\u00e4 liikkuen (Train-ing together). There were 22 students in the target group (8 girls and 11 boys). Data was col-lected by using tests measuring trunk control and dynamic balance before and after the inter-vention period. Students\u2019 and teacher\u2019s experiences in the functional training period were col-lected using feedback forms and questionnaires.\r\n\r\nData was analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Data was not normally distributed, so non-parametric tests were used to analyze the data. Open questions were ana-lyzed using thematising and content analysing.\r\n\r\nFrom the results of the study it can be concluded that both students and their teacher were pleased with the functional training period. However, girls took more positive attitude towards functional training than boys. Most of the students were ready to make use of the functional exercises they learnt during the training period. In addition, students\u2019 trunk control and dynamic balance improved during the training period. There were no differences between genders in the tests that were taken before and after the training period. Students who exercise regularly were more pleased with the training period than students who exercise rarely or more than seven times in a week. Students who practise endurance sports were most pleased with the functional training period. Students who practise sports where the focus is on skills took more negative attitude towards functional training than students who practise endurance sports or sports where the focus is on both skills and power.
