Lis\u00e4ksi oltiin kiinnostuneita, muuntavatko vanhemmuustyylit koulunk\u00e4yntiin liittyvien vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6jen vaikutusta kouluun kiinnittymiseen. Tutkimus oli osa laajempaa Alkuportaat 2-seurantatutkimusta, jossa seurataan lapsia, vanhempia ja opettajia kuudennelta luokalta yhdeks\u00e4nnen luokan loppuun. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen aineisto on ker\u00e4tty vuonna 2013 kuudennen luokan kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Tutkimuksessa oli mukana 902 lasta, joista tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 oli 424 (47 %) ja poikia 478 (53 %) sek\u00e4 heid\u00e4n \u00e4itins\u00e4 (508). \u00c4idit t\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t kyselylomakkeen, jossa kysyttiin heid\u00e4n vanhemmuustyyleist\u00e4\u00e4n ja vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4\u00e4n. Lapset puolestaan vastasivat kouluun kiinnittymist\u00e4 koskeviin kysymyksiin. Tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 vanhemmuustyylit ja lasten koulunk\u00e4yntiin liittyv\u00e4t vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6t ovat yhteydess\u00e4 lasten kouluun kiinnittymiseen. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin, ett\u00e4 vanhemmuustyyliryhmist\u00e4 auktoritatiivinen kasvatustyyli sek\u00e4 vanhemmuuden ulottuvuuksista l\u00e4mpimyys olivat yhteydess\u00e4 korkeampaan kouluun kiinnittymiseen. Vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4 puolestaan korkean autonomian tukemisen havaittiin olevan yhteydess\u00e4 korkeampaan kouluun kiinnittymiseen. Tutkimuksessa l\u00f6ydettiin lis\u00e4ksi liev\u00e4t negatiiviset yhteydet vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4 ohjaamisen ja auttamisen ja kognitiivisen kiinnittymisen v\u00e4lilt\u00e4. Vanhemmuustyylien muuntavien vaikutusten havaittiin ilmenev\u00e4n siten, ett\u00e4 \u00e4idin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4inen behavioraalisen kontrollin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 yhdistettyn\u00e4 korkeaan autonomian tukemiseen oli yhteydess\u00e4 korkeampaan kouluun kiinnittymiseen. Tutkimustulokset viittaavat n\u00e4in ollen siihen, ett\u00e4 tukemalla sopivalla tavalla lasten koulunk\u00e4yntiin liittyvi\u00e4 vanhemmuusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6j\u00e4 voidaan edist\u00e4\u00e4 lasten kouluun kiinnittymist\u00e4. Moreover, the purpose was to investigate whether parenting styles would modify the connection between school related parenting practices and school engagement. The study is part of the Alkuportaat 2 -follow-up study that follows children, parents and teachers from sixth grade to the end of elementary school. This study was conducted in the spring of 2013 when children were on sixth grade. The participants were 902 children (424 girls, 478 boys) and their mothers (508). Mothers completed a questionnaire concerning parenting styles and parenting practices. Children\u2019s school engagement was measured as part of their questionnaire. First, the results showed that parenting styles and school related parenting practices are connected to school engagement. From the typological parenting style groups especially authoritative parenting had positive connection to higher school engagement. Also the dimensional parenting styles were studied. The results showed that mother\u2019s warmth was related to higher school engagement. When considering school related parenting practices positive connection between supporting autonomy and school engagement was found. Also minor negative associations between help and monitoring with cognitive school engagement were found. Finally it was found that mothers\u2019 low behavioral control combined with high support of autonomy were associated with higher school engagement. The results showed that by supporting appropriate school related parenting practices it is possible to increase school engagement.
