Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu \u2013tutkielma, 66s.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tulkita ja analysoida Oslon liikuntakorkeakouluopiskelijoiden vuoristovaellukselta saamia henkil\u00f6kohtaisesti merkityksellisi\u00e4 hetki\u00e4 heid\u00e4n itse ottamien valokuvien ja lyhyiden kirjallisten kuvausten avulla. T\u00e4m\u00e4 7 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n vuoristovaellus Jotun-heimenin vuoristossa kuului 30 opintopisteen outdoor studies \u2013opinto-kokonaisuuteen, jota p\u00e4\u00e4sin opiskelemaan opiskelijavaihdon aikana syksyll\u00e4 2013 Oslossa. Osallistuin itse koko-naisvaltaisesti t\u00e4lle vaellukselle, jolta ker\u00e4sin tutkimuksen aineiston. Pyysin vaellukselle l\u00e4h-tevi\u00e4 opiskelijoita (n=45) ottamaan vaelluksen aikana valokuvan heille merkityksellisest\u00e4 hetkest\u00e4 ja kuvailemaan t\u00e4t\u00e4 lyhyesti kirjallisesti. Pidin my\u00f6s henkil\u00f6kohtaista havaintop\u00e4iv\u00e4-kirjaa koko vaelluksen ajan. Sain valokuvan 17 opiskelijalta, mutta valitsin harkinnanvarai-sesti koeryhm\u00e4\u00e4n 7 aineistosta esille noussutta kokemusta. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi tulkitsin ja ana-lysoin my\u00f6s oman merkityksellisen hetkeni vaellukselta.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millaisia merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 kokemuksia luontoliikunta tuottaa opiskelijoille. Tutkimuksen taustalla oli norjalainen friluftsliv-el\u00e4m\u00e4ntapa, jota opiskelimme lukukauden aikana, ja jonka ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4minen loi pohjaa opiskelijoiden kokemusten ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4-miselle.\r\n\r\nTutkimus oli laadullinen visuaalinen tutkimus, joka l\u00e4hestyi aihetta etnografisista l\u00e4ht\u00f6koh-dista. Laadulliselle tutkimukselle ominaisena piirteen\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa pyrin tutkijana ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n opiskelijoiden kokemuksia syv\u00e4llisesti ja mahdollisimman autenttisina. Valo-kuvien analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytin \u201dthe interpretive engagement\u201d \u2013menetelm\u00e4\u00e4, jossa valokuvat, valokuvien ottajien kommentit, tutkijan n\u00e4kemys sek\u00e4 teoreettinen viitekehys muodostivat kokonaisuuden.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksessa selvisi, miten luonnosta saatuihin opiskelijoiden merkityksellisiin kokemuk-siin liittyi muun muassa itsens\u00e4 voittamisen, itsen\u00e4isyyden, ilon, yhteis\u00f6llisyyden, rentoutu-misen, esteettisen nautinnon ja onnistumisen tunteita sek\u00e4 vahvaa yhteytt\u00e4 ymp\u00e4r\u00f6iv\u00e4n luon-non kanssa. Vahvojen tunteiden kokeminen hetkiss\u00e4 oli er\u00e4s kaikkia kokemuksia yhdist\u00e4v\u00e4 tekij\u00e4. Oman vaelluskokemukseni mieleenpainuvuus oli my\u00f6s juuri voimakkaiden positiivis-ten tunteiden ansiota. The faculty of Sport Sciences, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, 66p.\r\n\r\nThe aim of this study was to interpret and analyze personally meaningful hiking moments of students of Norwegian school of sport sciences through participant-generated photographs and short written descriptions. This 7 days of hiking on Jotunheimen Mountains was part of outdoor studies (30 credit points) that I participated during fall semester 2013 when I was doing student-exchange in Oslo. I took fully part in this hike as a student of which I collected the data for this study. I asked students (N=45) who were participating in this hike to take a photograph of a mo-ment that was somehow strongly meaningful for them and write a short description of it. I also kept my own observation diary during the hike. 17 students gave me their photographs of which I discretionarily chose moments (N=7) that somehow stud up from the group. In addition to this I decided to analyze and interpret also my own meaningful moment from the hike as a part of the data.\r\n\r\nThis study examined what kind of meaningful experiences outdoor activities can give to stu-dents. Concept of Norwegian friluftsliv created the background for this study and we studied and practiced it the whole semester in Norway. It helped to understand the nature of the students\u2019 experiences.\r\n\r\nThis study was visual qualitative research, which approached the topic from ethnographic con-text. It is characteristic for qualitative research to try to understand students\u2019 experiences deeply and as authentic as possible. The interpretive engagement was the method that I used to analyze students\u2019 photographs. In this method photographs, comments of photographers, vision of re-searcher and theoretical framework constructed the meanings together. \r\n\r\nThis study represented how strong feelings were involved in all nature based meaningful experi-ences of students. Students felt success, happiness, exceeding oneself, independence, communal-ity, relaxation, aesthetic pleasure and strong connection with surrounding nature. Strong feelings were one common thing that stud up from all of the students experiences. Also my own hiking experience was so memorable because of the intensive emotions that were involved.
