Liikuntakasvatuksen laitos, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, Liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma, 82 s., 1 liite. \r\n\r\nRomanikulttuurin erityispiirteist\u00e4 pukeutuminen ja h\u00e4veli\u00e4isyys vaikuttavat erityisesti julkisilla paikoilla tapahtuvaan liikuntaan osallistumiseen. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kuvata seitsem\u00e4n yl\u00e4koulussa ja perusopetuksen lis\u00e4opetuksessa opiskelevan romaninuoren kokemuksia ja viihtymist\u00e4 koululiikunnassa.\r\n\r\nTutkimus on luonteeltaan laadullinen ja siin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin fenomenologis-hermeneuttista l\u00e4hestymistapaa. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastatteluilla, joiden p\u00e4\u00e4teemoina olivat liikunnan merkitys ja harrastaminen, viihtyminen koulun liikuntatunneilla, koululiikuntakokemukset, liikuntamotivaatio, sosiaalinen yhteenkuuluvuus ja romanikulttuurin erityispiirteiden yhteydet koululiikuntaan osallistumiseen.\r\n\r\nTulosten mukaan romanioppilaiden koululiikuntakokemuksiin ovat yhteydess\u00e4 sis\u00e4iset eli oppilaasta itsest\u00e4\u00e4n sek\u00e4 ulkoiset eli muista oppilaista, opettajasta, vanhemmista ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6st\u00e4 johtuvat tekij\u00e4t. My\u00f6nteisiin kokemuksiin vaikuttivat oppilaan oma fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys sek\u00e4 oppilaiden keskin\u00e4inen sosiaalinen yhteenkuuluvuus, hyv\u00e4ksytyksi tuleminen ja toimivat vuorovaikutussuhteet oppilasryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4. Kielteisiin kokemuksiin ja viihtym\u00e4tt\u00f6myyteen liikuntatunneilla liittyiv\u00e4t oppilaiden kokema puutteellinen autonomia, kuumuus ja huono s\u00e4\u00e4. My\u00f6s opettajalla oli keskeinen, monitahoinen yhteys romanioppilaiden koululiikuntakokemuksiin.\r\n\r\nTutkimustulosten perusteella romanikulttuuri ei est\u00e4 koululiikuntaan osallistumista. The Roma student in Physical Education - The experiences and views of seven Roma students on physical education. Department of Physical Education, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Master\u00b4s thesis, 82 pp., 1 appendix. \r\n\r\nThe special characteristics of the Roma culture of dressing and coyness affect participation in physical education, especially in public places. The objective of this study was to describe and understand the physical education experiences of seven young Roma students in upper comprehensive school and additional lessons of the basic education. \r\n\r\nThis study was conducted via qualitative themed interviews with a phenomenological hermeneutic approach. The main themes were the significance of sports, sports as a hobby, general attitude on school\u2019s sports education, experiences of school physical education, motivation to do sports, social cohesiveness and the effects of the special characteristics of Roma culture on participating in physical education.\r\n\r\nThe results showed that the experiences of the Roma students in physical education classes were affected by both internal factors, originating from the student, and external factors, such as other students, teachers, parents and the environment. The positive experiences were linked to factors such as physical capability and acceptance by fellow students; whereas negative feelings were most often connected to the students\u2019 insufficient autonomy, heat and bad weather. The teacher also had a fundamental and complex role in the physical education experience of the Roma students. \r\n\r\nThe study showed that while Roma culture does not prevent participation in school\u2019s physical education, it requires acceptance of Romani clothes in certain situations and involves additional preparations from the teacher.
