Itsearviointiin voi linkitt\u00e4\u00e4 metakognition, joka on oman osaamisen ja kykyjen hahmottamista ja niiden hyv\u00e4ksik\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4. Sek\u00e4 oppimisessa ett\u00e4 itsearvioinnissa on eroja sukupuolten v\u00e4lill\u00e4, ja n\u00e4it\u00e4 eroja olisi hyv\u00e4 tutkia, jotta tuloksia voisi k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 hyv\u00e4ksi opettamisessa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 eroja eri kielen osa- alueiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 (lukeminen, kirjoittaminen, kuunteleminen, puhuminen) - onko jossain alueessa vahvemmin n\u00e4kyviss\u00e4 metakognitiiviset oppimistaidot, ja onko n\u00e4iss\u00e4 alueissa sukupuolieroja. Tutkimuksessa tutkittiin oppilaiden omaa n\u00e4kemyst\u00e4 omista taidoistaan sek\u00e4 heid\u00e4n opettajansa n\u00e4kemyst\u00e4.\r\nTutkimus toteutettiin er\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 keskisuomalaisessa alakoulussa kev\u00e4tlukukauden loppuessa, kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2010. Oppilaiden osalta tiedot tutkimukseen ker\u00e4ttiin kyselylomakkeella, jossa heit\u00e4 pyydettiin antamaan arvosanat jokaiselle kielen eri osa-alueelle, sek\u00e4 vastaamaan avoimeen kommenttiin millaisena he n\u00e4kev\u00e4t itsens\u00e4 kyseisen kielen osa-alueen oppijana. Opettajan arvosanat ker\u00e4ttiin avoimella haastattelulla. Tutkimuksessa oli mukana 27 kuudennen luokan oppilasta ja yksi opettaja. Tutkimuksessa selvisi, ett\u00e4 kokonaisuutena eri kielen osa-alueiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 oli eroja, mutta niist\u00e4 ei ollut selke\u00e4\u00e4 korrelaatiota metakognitiivisiin taitoihin. Kun arvosanoja tutkittiin yksil\u00f6tasolla, tutkimuksessa tuli lukemisessa ja puhumisessa viitteit\u00e4 metakognitiivisesta oppimisesta. Tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien eroja tutkittaessa, erot tulivat selke\u00e4sti esiin, ja tyt\u00f6t olivat ankarampia sek\u00e4 omissa arvosanoissa ett\u00e4 negatiivisempia avoimissa kommenteissaan.\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tulosten pohjalta voi n\u00e4hd\u00e4 viitteit\u00e4 metakognitiivisesta oppimisesta, mutta jotta tulokset olisivat kattavampia, pit\u00e4isi tutkimusta tutkia pidemm\u00e4ll\u00e4 aikav\u00e4lill\u00e4 ja etenkin oppilaiden taitojen kehittymist\u00e4 metakognitiivisten taitojen lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyess\u00e4. Sukupuolien v\u00e4lisist\u00e4 eroista tuli t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella ilmi se, ett\u00e4 pojat eiv\u00e4t ole niin kriittisi\u00e4 omille taidoilleen, ja heid\u00e4n arvosanansa ovat l\u00e4hemp\u00e4n\u00e4 opettajan arvosanaa.
