Tutkimus keskittyi my\u00f6s ottamaan selv\u00e4\u00e4 miten opettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4t motivoimiskeinot toimivat opettajien mukaan ja kokevatko he motivoimisen haastavaksi ruotsin kielen kohdalla. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin opettajien tarvetta ja halua kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 motivointitaitojaan. \nTutkielma toteutettiin kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2013 kyselytutkimuksena lomakkeen avulla ja siihen osallistui nelj\u00e4 naispuolista haastateltavaa. Haastateltavat tavoitettiin Suomen Ruotsinopettajat ry:n s\u00e4hk\u00f6postilistan kautta. Kyselyn vastaukset analysoitiin p\u00e4\u00e4osin kvalitatiivisesti.\nTutkielman tulosten mukaan opettajien kolme yleisint\u00e4 motivoimismetodia ovat tuntien sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n vaihtelu rutiinien lis\u00e4ksi, kannustaminen ja positiivisen palautteen antaminen sek\u00e4 autenttisen kulttuuritietouden tarjoaminen oppilaille. Opettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4t motivoimismetodeja pidet\u00e4\u00e4n t\u00e4rkein\u00e4 my\u00f6s alan kirjallisuudessa ja t\u00e4ten on perusteltua todeta, ett\u00e4 metodeita voidaan pit\u00e4\u00e4 hyvin\u00e4 keinoina yll\u00e4pit\u00e4\u00e4 oppilaiden oppimismotivaatiota. Kolme haastateltavaa nelj\u00e4st\u00e4 olivat sit\u00e4 mielt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 voivat vaikuttaa oppilaidensa opiskelumotivaatioon, mutta my\u00f6nsiv\u00e4t samalla osan oppilaista olevan vaikeasti motivoitavissa.\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat my\u00f6s, ett\u00e4 opettajalta vaaditaan taitoa ja tahtoa motivoida oppilaita ruotsin kielen tunneilla, mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4 pit\u00e4\u00e4 paikkansa my\u00f6s muiden lyhyen oppim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n vieraiden kielten tunneilla yl\u00e4koulussa. Syyksi vaikeuksiin opettajat mainitsevat murrosi\u00e4n.
