Tavoitteena on arvioida Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopiston j\u00e4tehuollon t\u00e4m\u00e4n hetkist\u00e4 tilannetta, suorittaa kannattavuusanalyysi biokaasulaitokselle ja tutkia eri vaihtoehtojen energiataseita, kasvihuonekaasup\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6j\u00e4 ja mahdollisuutta v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6j\u00e4. Perustuen orgaanisten j\u00e4tteiden kemiallisiin koostumuksiin ja metaanintuottopotentiaaleihin biokaasulaitos mallinnettiin erilaisilla vaihtoehdoilla. Ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 vaihtoehdossa ainoa j\u00e4telajike on bioj\u00e4te sek\u00e4 yliopistolta ett\u00e4 Kortepohjan ylioppilaskyl\u00e4st\u00e4. Toisessa vaihtoehdossa lis\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n yliopistolla muodostunut puutarhaj\u00e4te. Kolmannessa vaihtoehdossa hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n kaikki biohajoava j\u00e4te (eli bio- ja puutarhaj\u00e4te, paperi ja kartonki) sek\u00e4 bioj\u00e4te Kortepohjasta.\n\nT\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 yliopistolla muodostuva bioj\u00e4te kuljetetaan Mustankorkean kaatopaikalle kompostoitavaksi. Suurin osa yliopistolla muodostuvasta bioj\u00e4tteest\u00e4 on ruokaj\u00e4tett\u00e4 Sonaatti Oy:st\u00e4, joka omistaa yliopiston alueella olevat ravintolat ja kahvilat. M\u00e4d\u00e4tykseen soveltuvaa j\u00e4tett\u00e4 muodostuu yliopistolla noin 491 tonnia vuodessa. J\u00e4telajikkeista, jotka soveltuvat m\u00e4d\u00e4tykseen, suurin osa muodostuu paperista \u2013 noin 55%, seuraavaksi eniten muodostuu pahvia ja bioj\u00e4tett\u00e4 (molempia noin 20 %) ja v\u00e4hiten muodostuu puutarhaj\u00e4tett\u00e4 \u2013 noin 5 % kokonaisj\u00e4tem\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4st\u00e4.\n\nVaihtoehdoista kolmas olisi kannattavin, jos mitta-asteikkona on energiantuotto, koska vaihtoehto tuottaa eniten biokaasua (211 173 m3/vuosi). Ensimm\u00e4inen vaihtoehto hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 vain bioj\u00e4tett\u00e4, jolla on suuri metaanintuottopotentiaali. Siksi vaihtoehdolla on suurin suhteellinen biokaasuntuotto, mutta m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti ensimm\u00e4inen vaihtoehto tuottaa selv\u00e4sti v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n biokaasua (noin 15 765-35 691 m3/vuosi riippuen k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4nk\u00f6 Kortepohjassa muodostuvaa bioj\u00e4tett\u00e4) kuin kolmas vaihtoehto. Koska bioj\u00e4te on ainoa j\u00e4telajike, joka vaatii pastor\u00f6innin, ensimm\u00e4inen skenaario on hieman energiatehottomampi kuin muut. Kaikissa tutkituissa vaihtoehdoissa biokaasun tuottamat mahdolliset s\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6t kasvihuonekaasup\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6iss\u00e4 ovat suuremmat kuin laitoksen aiheuttamat p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6t.\n\nBiokaasulaitoksen tuottama s\u00e4hk\u00f6- ja l\u00e4mp\u00f6energia ei pystyisi korvaamaan suuria osuuksia energian kokonaiskulutuksesta, koska Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto kuluttaa suuren m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n energiaa suhteessa kohtuulliseen j\u00e4tteentuottoon. Kolmannella vaihtoehdolla pystytt\u00e4isiin korvaamaan noin 1,3 % yliopiston energiatarpeesta verrattuna ensimm\u00e4iseen ja toiseen vaihtoehtoon, joiden korvausasteet j\u00e4isiv\u00e4t 0,07-0,2 %:iin.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of the study was to carry out feasibility study on the anaerobic digestion of organ-ic wastes generated at the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 for biogas production. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the current solid waste management at the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, to carry out the feasibility study for the biogas plant and to estimate the energy balance, greenhouse gas emissions and possible emission savings. Based on the chemical composition and methane potential of these organic wastes, biogas plant was designed with different Scenarios. In first Scenario, the only feedstock is biowaste produced in the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 and Kortepohja Student Village. In second Scenario, the garden waste from the University premises is added. Third Scenario utilizes all biodegradable waste streams generated at the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 and biowaste from Kortepohja Student Village.\n\nAt the moment the biowaste generated at the University is transported to Mustankorkea landfill to be composted. Most of the biowaste generated at the University is food waste from the Sonaatti Ltd, which owns the restaurants and cafeterias located in the University premises. The total amount of organic wastes in 2012 generated at the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 was 491 tons per year. Among the waste streams suitable for anaerobic digestion, the paper waste has the biggest proportion \u2013 approximately 55 %, followed by cardboard and biowaste both with fraction of 20 % and garden waste with 5 %.\n\nScenario 3 would be the most feasible option if considering the energy production as the Scenario produced by far the most amount of biogas (211 173 m3/year). As the Scenario 1 utilizes only biowaste with the highest methane potential, Scenario 1 has the highest biogas production per reactor size and per feedstock amount but volumetric amount (in Run 1 15 765 m3/year and 35 691 m3/year in Run 2) is much lower than in Scenario 3. As the biowaste is the only waste stream that requires pasteurization, the energy efficiency of the option is slightly lower than with those options that add other waste streams. All studied Scenarios have the potential to give higher greenhouse gas emission savings when biogas replaces fossil energy than the emissions the plant operations and transportations cause.\n\nSince the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is a large institute with enormous energy consumption compared to moderate waste production, the energy produced by the biogas plant cannot reach high levels of replacement.
