Monitulkintaisuuden siet\u00e4minen on yksil\u00f6llinen, tilannesidonnainen piirre. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa selvitet\u00e4\u00e4n kuinka t\u00e4m\u00e4 piirre n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyy englantia opiskelevien lukiolaisten tavoissa suhtautua englanninkieliseen lukemiseen - toimeen, jossa kohdataan runsaasti ep\u00e4varmuutta ja toimitaan osin arvailujen varassa. \r\n Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli koota oppijaprofiloinnin kautta kokonaisvaltainen kuva siit\u00e4, mit\u00e4 monitulkintaisuuden siet\u00e4minen englanninkielisen lukemisen kontekstissa pit\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00e4\u00e4n. Hypoteesina oli, ett\u00e4 oppijatyypit rajautuvat erilaisten tekij\u00f6iden perusteella: ep\u00e4varmuuden siet\u00e4misen mukaan, havaitun uhka\u00e4rsykkeen her\u00e4tt\u00e4m\u00e4n psykologisen vasteen tyypin mukaan, sek\u00e4 sen mukaan, miten erilaiset alimuuttujat, kuten kieliahdistus ja sis\u00e4inen kontrolliorientaatio arvotetaan yksil\u00f6iden kokonaisk\u00e4sityksiss\u00e4. \r\n Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin Q-metodia. Taustakirjallisuuden pohjalta luotiin aineistonker\u00e4ysv\u00e4line, jolla kartoitettiin 36 lukiolaisen yksil\u00f6lliset, tutkimuksen aihepiiriin rajatut n\u00e4kemyskartat. Faktorianalyysin avulla n\u00e4kemyksist\u00e4 muodostettiin kuusi oppijatyyppi\u00e4, jotka tulkittiin sek\u00e4 taustateorian ett\u00e4 vastaajilta ker\u00e4ttyjen avointen kommenttien valossa. \r\n Tulosten mukaan valtaosa kohderyhm\u00e4st\u00e4 kuuluu oppijatyyppiin, jota luonnehtii taipumus kiinnostua havaitusta monitulkintaisuudesta. Pienempi ryhm\u00e4 oppijoita hyv\u00e4ksyy monitulkintaisuuden ilman varsinaista kiinnostusta ja vain pieni v\u00e4hemmist\u00f6 kokee monitulkintaisuuden ongelmaksi. Yksil\u00f6lle ominaisen ajattelutavan lis\u00e4ksi ryhmien keskeisimm\u00e4t erot m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ytyiv\u00e4t my\u00f6s erityisesti tiettyjen motivaatiotason muuttujien perusteella, etenkin silt\u00e4 osin, kun monitulkintaisuuden siet\u00e4minen vaihtuu kiinnostukseksi. T\u00e4st\u00e4 johtuen piirteen vaihteluv\u00e4li ei kulkenut suoraan jatkumona inhosta ihastukseen, vaan koostui limitt\u00e4isist\u00e4 mutta erillisist\u00e4 osatekij\u00f6ist\u00e4.
