Näin pyritään rakentamaan kokonaiskuvaa siitä miksi tieto- ja viestintätekniikan pedagogista tukea tulisi hyödyntää perusopetuksen osana. Lähtökohtaisesti tietoja viestintätekniikkaa hyödynnetään perusopetuksessa olemassa oleviin mahdollisuuksiin nähden melko vähän. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on kartoittaa syitä tieto- ja viestintätekniikan vähäiselle käytölle ja etsiä keinoja lisätä tieto- ja viestintätekniikan opetuskäyttöä perusopetuksessa kouluilla jo olevien resurssien puitteissa. Tutkimuksen toteutukseen käytettiin laadullisen tutkimuksen tutkimusotteista tapaustutkimusta ja toimintatutkimusta. Aineiston keruumetodeiksi valittiin haastattelut ja kyselyt sekä havainnointi. Tutkimus toteutettiin kolmen kuukauden mittaisen ajan jakson aikana vuosina 2010 ja 2011. Tutkimukseen osallistui kaksi luokanopettajaa sekä kaksi opettajaopiskelijaa. This study examines the possibilities of using student provided pedagogic support in enhancing teachers’ readiness to use information and communications technology in their teaching. In the theory section of this study, information and communications technology is studied on a general level as a part of elementary education and in more detail from the perspective of language teaching. The theory section is used to establish understanding of why information and communications technology should be used as a part of elementary education. Information and communications technology is used relatively infrequently in elementary education, when considering the possibilities available to teachers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the reasons for the limited use of information and communications technology, and to find ways to increase the use of already existing technological resources in elementary education. This study is a qualitative study and the research approaches used in this study are case study and action research. The data for this study was collected by interviews, semi-structured questionnaires, and research journals. The study was conducted over a three-month period during 2010 and 2011. Two students and two primary school teachers participated in this study.
